So I’m currently looking for an F150 4x4 short box with less than 40000 on the clock. Searching auto trader in Az and I see quite a few that when you pull up CARFAX, they originally came from Canada, ended up in Arkansas and sold to dealers through auction. A lot of them so just wondering hats up with that. Anyone know the story?

Never mind I googled it. Pretty interesting how that works. Canadian dollars vs US basically.

Seeing lots of them. The aluminum motor parts, valve covers and such, dead giveaways. They are more oxidized than you'd expect, dull gray and white ghosting, next to "buy here, pay here" Armour All'd plastics. Mechanically they seem to not be any better or worse than local stuff, but seen a couple with siezed calipers from oxidation. That's really about it though.

My F150 came from Canada via Seattle, bought it sight unseen online as Covid was getting crazy. Couldn't find something local that met what I wanted without spending $10-15k more.

It was crazy!

Been a great truck

I read they changed them but haven’t seen one yet to check.

My F150 Tremor was originally sold in Canada. On the sticker it's stated that it is a 50 state/Canadian vehicle. I found my truck in beautiful Cortez CO at the local Ford Dealership, Keesee Motors. lol I drove to the Wells Fargo in Durango to get the cash. They have lots of nice, used trucks there, I got a good deal on the truck too. They sent all the paperwork to me and I transferred the truck into the CA DMV system. They are good ole boys at Keesee and took great care of me and did everything they said they would. I'm sure you've checked them out as you live there.

Make sure to inspect the undercarriage on these trucks. Mine has some surface rust on the rear axle and suspension components. It's kind of a thing with some of the trucks coming out of Dearborn MI.. But it might also be because it spent a couple of years in Canada.

If it’s a digital dash, which a lot of the F150s are, it should just be a change in the options.
Had an Eidorado, 01 or 02 and an 05 vette with analog that had the option to switch.

For shits and giggles I switched the Eldo to kmh before my mom took it for a week. She was impressed how smooth and quiet it was at highway speeds. Not so happy that other drivers were passing her so much and giving her dirty looks.

Knew Joe Keesee and family well. Joe passed from cancer a few years ago. i have bought around 12 or so from them and my wife’s family way way more than that. Was just in there today as a matter of fact just to say hi. Small world.

It's the salt in the roads in the winter, it just eats up the steel parts. In this part of the world you really don't see clean older vehicles unless they get parked in the winter, no matter how much or how often you wash them.

I bought a car or two from Kessee over the years also... Used to play golf with one of the sons.

My old college roommate owns a few car dealerships and they purchase from auction up in Canada and sell them here in the states, particularly southwest.

Check the undercarriage for rust……. It’s usually cheaper for a reason.

I’ve read that if they come from Alberta or any of the plains areas, they aren’t as bad for salt. Don’t know but worth looking into. Went on Trucar and priced new. Holy shit that opens a can of worms. 🐛 Had a guy call not 2 minutes later after putting my jeep in for a trade in. That was laughable. Told him if I was going to give it away I’d give it to a family member. Just kicking tires at this point.
