This may have been posted before but as a reminder, here it is again.

The passes provide free access to more than 2,000 federal recreation areas, including national parks, wildlife refuges, and forests. I drove up to the gate at Red Rock National Conservation Area gate yesterday and showed my VA Medical card and she gave it to me. No forms to fill out, no money, no BS. You need to go to a facility that issues. BLM, NP Headquarters, etc. FYI, DD 214 IS NOT one of the documents accepted. See link below.

Some highlights:
You and up to 3 passengers in your private car.

I read about this the other day. I’m waiting for my card to come in. Wonder how many tickets will be written at Glamis for vehicles with no window pass but owner holds this card.

What is not covered by the free Military Pass program?

The pass does not cover expanded amenity fees such as camping, tours or special recreation permits; reservation fees and fees for organized groups or concession-operated facilities or activities.

Would Glamis be considered a special recreational permit ??

The Veteran ID card is the same one the CA DMV requires to obtain the Vet Drivers license. This is obtained via local VA office and you'll need your DD214.

Most likely a gray area that will be ticketed. Might not work for an RV but if you drive your car, “sorry officer I’m not camping I’m here for the day”

Several years ago I signed up and received a Free "Senior" lifetime National Park pass, which sounds like this deal. Only used it once so far, but that was a gated entry and drove right in with a nod of his Ranger hat.

I have a handicap pass and they will give you a holder to hang the card from your mirror if you need it to be seen.

I got this pass years ago and at the time you had to have at least a 50% rating from the V.A. Good deal that all Vets can get it now.
