Well, I actually found some time to pull this fresh unit out of the crate.

Now to get it Smurfed out and on the boat!

My goal is to run the Performance Boat Center Fall Fun Run next weekend. With my time being limited by travel between now and then, I’m thinking I’ll put all of the blue & striped cowl pieces on and skip painting the transom bracket and driveshaft housing for right now and pull it back off over the winter to make it correct.

Hard to believe it’s been a year since I’ve run this thing, and all of the life changes that have happened since then (All for the good!!)

@lake p.a.l. , get ready, we’re doin’ it! I’ll see if I can’t snooker him into helping me with the installation.

I'd love to be there to help you hang that new power but you don't need me bleeding all over it. As you know, I have extremely limited skillz...
Can't wait to run it

Any updates? This has been a cool thread to follow.
Interesting on your timing! Engine is finally getting painted by one of my guys in the shop. I honestly haven’t had time to work on it, so I enlisted extremely capable help from our paint shop. I did manage to get the very rough grinder marks out of the midsection and bottom guides with everything sanded to 320, but that’s as far as I got.

I’m out of town for business and I’m expecting it to be completed when I return. I approved the color spray outs last weekend, and he finished prepping it over the weekend and sprayed primer tonight.

Engine will be going on when I return, and @lake p.a.l. , @BlowMe and I are taking it to Jasper TN the following weekend for a trip on the Tennessee River.

Got it on the water for the first time with the new engine today. I drove it up to the offshore races and caught up with @lake p.a.l. and @BlowMe and a bunch of other boating friends of ours. The house we were at happened to be where they were broadcasting the race feed from, so there was a great view.

I threw a 30 Max5ST on it and it planes very well with full fuel and me. LOTO was living up to its reputation and was rough as balls, but I had a blast running there by myself, and on the way back with the aforementioned members in lake pal’s 21 Shadow, which you can see me tied to in the third pic above.

I only ran 65 on the way there and 75 on the way back, earning a lot of sky miles both directions.

I’m looking forward to running on our end of the lake (race was at 7MM, I’m at 38MM and lake pal is at 39MM) which is significantly smoother.

The good news is it hits on all 8, no leaks, good water pressure, and acceleration is very noticeably better than the 400R. Might just make a breakfast run tomorrow, we’ll see.

Thanks for checking in!

Well, I don’t have a lift at my dock yet, but I did drive the StressEliminator from work to home one night this week, took my wife for a ride up to Boondockz, swung in by @lake p.a.l. to say hello and check out his new dock.

I was nervous to leave my boat in the slip floating for the evening, checked on it before I went to bed and it looked exactly the same in the morning.

I’ve been itching to complete a self-proclaimed “take your boat to work day”, and yesterday was it. Exhilarating to run triple digits on the way to work. I was buzzing about it till mid-afternoon!

Finally trying to enjoy this thing at LOTO. Looking forward to exploring with my wife as well as lake pal. He and I plan on running it dam to dam (93 miles one way) one of these days.

Pulling a 30 Max5 ST right now, I’ve got a handful of props to try on this thing. It’s extremely sensitive to jackplate height. I can’t imagine running this boat without one. It’s interesting, above 90 I need to drop it back down, below 90 on smooth water I need to get it up to minimize hop. Any ripple whatsoever and there’s no hop.

Quite pleased with the pod mods, could probably reduce the hop with some lifting strakes, but I’m done working on improving the bottom of this boat. It does everything I want it to do, it’s really enjoyable for me to drive. Looking forward to logging some hours the rest of the year.

So cool to see her again. Like MW said, the whole idea of taking your boat to work is just kinda other worldly. Not many of us that share this odd passion get to experience that. Super happy for you and hoping you get to rack up some hours of nothing but fun on her.

Are you talking work or play?

Play is to get my shop set up so I can heat it this winter and get going on some car projects.

To say work and relocating has consumed me for the last 13 months would be an understatement. I wouldn’t trade any of it, but I am focusing on having a personal life again.

Huge thanks to HydroSkreamin
I got to run his StressEliminator today for the 1st time. It turns & rides like no other Daytona I've been in, WOW!!!
He ran it thru some slop at 75+ mph that I was amazed how well it did. Believe we did a quick 58 mile run & had a blast. What a great boat

Had a blast running the boat with lake pal. We were supposed to be giving our buddy a farewell ride, but his kid’s ax-throwing tournament trumped us. 😂

We decided to make the best of it and headed toward Truman Dam. Started at the 39 MM, went up to the 68 MM and turned around. Wind was 21 mph, so where it would normally be calm on the more open areas there were whitecaps. We cruised 60-75, with an occasional burst into the 90’s. What a blast!

Lake pal was chill when he got behind the wheel, but Miss StressEliminator was begging for more and he found himself taking a sweeper at 85 with him steering and me throttling. The grin on his face was priceless!

Lots more exploring to do on this beautiful lake we live on, looking forward to seeing it all.

Went on the first leg of the 2023 Performance Boat Center/Mercury Racing Outboard Fun Run yesterday. I told @lake p.a.l. and @BlowMe that they may have made a poor life decision to ride with me when they had opportunity to ride in a boat 50% bigger than mine, but they were troopers and were hooting and hollering the entire way. Hopefully we get a pic from the helicopter when we were passing the big Cigarette center console 😁

IMG_0119.jpeg

Boat ran great, and we headed to The Cave, an on-water stop on the Niangua Branch of Lake of the Ozarks.

IMG_6357.png

You can see we were the smallest performance boat there, but we got there early enough for good parking.😉 We’re the red arrow
IMG_6346.jpeg

Attended the dinner put on by Performance Boat Center and I was surprised, humbled and flattered to receive the Best Classic Boat award. Blew me away!

Anyone that has followed this thread knows that this wouldn’t have been possible without the countless hours of help from Crash, HeadlessHula, Roger, Nick, Remington and all the others that chipped in along the way. I’m forever grateful to them all.

IMG_6349.jpeg

One of these days I’ll get to finish the nagging details on this boat, but it sure is a blast to run right now.

Two of the three daughters are visiting and one hadn’t been in the StressEliminator yet (she is an archaeologist working in CA, we only see her once or twice a year) so I obliged with a sunset ride checking out the Shootout track (4 miles from my house, coming up in two weeks), and The Cave (about 10 miles by water)

She said “Don’t let these white knuckles fool you into thinking that I’m not having a good time!”😂

I’m glad she enjoyed it, and I’m also glad that I kept the original nav and anchor lights. The old school vibe is just what I wanted.

What a nice end to a long day.

Well, you never know what curve ball life is going to throw at you. Miss StressEliminator and I are heading toward Phoenix AZ today. To say I’m excited to start my new job out there is an understatement, but I’m also reflecting on the things that I really wanted to do in LOTO that I never had the time for due to work deadlines.

Heading out solo for now, doing the long range bi-weekly commute for now until the house closing in November.

I cannot thank @lake p.a.l. , @BlowMe , and @KingofBeers enough for their friendship here. The little bit of life I had outside of work they definitely made enjoyable. We’ll all be keeping in touch, and I’m positive we’ll be visiting each other on both ends.

Looking forward to splashing the Miss StressEliminator in western waters and possibly meeting some of you peeps face to face!

Wow! As much as I can't wait to see pics of the SE on waters I'm familiar with, I really hope the heat doesn't make you burst into flames

Safe travels, and good luck with the new adventure. Like you said, life can throw us curves. Either step back and watch, or step into your swing and try to knock it out of the park.

So @lake p.a.l. and better half we’re driving back to LOTO from AZ and of course I’m going the opposite direction. We were going to try to meet up on I44 somewhere, until we realized that the rest stops are no longer shared from both directions, so we each stopped at our respective stops.

I took the above picture and asked lake pal to get a picture as they go by, here’s what he sends me:

I’ve never been to New Mexico before, but my eldest daughter is an archaeologist and spent time near Grants. I couldn’t quite make it there on fuel so I got off at this off-ramp and poured my reserve 5 gallon can in.

Made it to Phoenix just before midnight, very thankful for a no-trouble trip. Going to sleep fast and start my first day at the new job in the morning.

Wow, its been awesome watching your journey unfold.

IMHO, DCB is very lucky to have someone with your expertise, communications skills, and willingness to teach others, work ethics.

That combined with the team they already have. I see a huge win/win for you and their future products.

I doubt I will ever be able to afford a new DCB, but having you on their team makes me want one more now.

I have a feeling this is going to be your dream job, I think your going to to be “Loving every minute of it”

Congratutions Sir, if I get down to your area, would love to just buy your bourbon or two.

So excited for you. To be working at one of the premiere boat manufacture would be great. It is still work but there is nothing better that have the pride of working for one of the best. Best to you and family in the move and getting settled in. Please post up when you head to Havasu it would be great to finally meet you. I’d even be willing to buy you a beer at Smith’s that is where all the cool kids hang out. 🤪 🤪 🤪 🤪

Finally got to dip the StressEliminator in desert waters. Coworker and friend John Teague and I decided it would be nice to bring in the New Year with a boat ride, so we did.

Man it’s beautiful out here…

Looking forward to running the StressEliminator at Parker and Havasu at some point this year and meeting some inmates that have followed this thread for a long time.

That last pic is going to look nice as a computer background and framed on the wall.
