It’s pretty bad when I almost have as much fun watching Netflix on the couch rather then run my boat on the RIVER! Yesterday was an absolute shit show in Needles between Needles Marina and Pirates. So Fricking tired of these Wake Surf Boats destroying the water on the RIVER. They just beat the shit out of my poor boat. I hit one of their waves that was so big when my boat came down it hit so hard it shut the engine off. These drivers have no concerns for anyone else and boats keep getting bigger and bigger with more and more ballast. They don’t know how to navigate worth a shit either I won’t get into that part. It makes me want to just sit home and leave my boat on the trailer. I bought a smaller boat because I like the RIVER!!!!!

I can NOT understand this. You are responsible for the Damage your wake makes. I know for a fact as a friend of mine videoed a Wake Boat messing him up while beached on the shore. another boat chased him down took pictures of his #'s and pictures of everyone on board and reported it to the Coast Guard and GFP. They were ticketed and went to court on criminal Charges and my Friend sued him in Civil Court and Won,for swamping his boat and damage to his Hull. It was Not a one time thing these people were going back and forth and asked to take it somewhere else. I feel a matter of time before they damage the Wrong boat and Owner, especially when some are Stressed.

There's always a % of each type of boater that seriously lacks etiquette. The worst part about the wake boat vs most others is answered in its name.
No doubt a sparkle fisher boat has annoyed you, or a big cat or even a kayaker but none of those send a property damaging tsunami at you.

@Blackmagic94 i saw roll bar boats at fishers landing like 3 weeks ago?
i have always wondered why the dock crushers go down river? some people i work with drive down to needles to take theirs. when mead is closer and way bigger. i usually pass 10-15 at mead but it always see them bow high and get far enough away from them i dont really get to beating up crossing the wake.

I think this is the first I've ever heard a boat is responsible for its wake? Wow, so the rollbar boats that cause this jet boat to hit a wake slam down and motor shuts down if there is something that happens to the jet boat the rollbar guy would have some repercussions for damage?

I have stated my thoughts on this subject so many times It's getting old. I go to the river (parker strip) monday -thursday then get the hell out of there before the uneducated boaters show up for the weekend and F%^k it up for the rest. Far from it for laws to get info enforced . Money is money and the camps and bars only care about income. If anybody Knows the wake damage laws ENFORCE THEM.

Just a question have you ever read the boaters manual or the navigation rules for proper boating?

The answer is yes, I’ll give you a good example I boat in the Delta in Nor Cal, and belong to a island. We have 2 large docks that will dock a 100 boats. But every once in a while we have these big 70’ long cruisers that won’t go behind the island, I guess they want us to see them. Bow sky high and raising hell even though we are 5 mile permitted in front of the docks. They have a right pass by but not causing boats to dam near catch the lip of our docks. One day we stopped a cruiser and he acted like he had no clue. We had video and turned his Dumb ass in. Never saw him pass through again.

I know for fact, many of my customers, especially the ones whose boats are on outer docks that face the lake, have hi resolution security cameras facing outwards towards the lake for this very reason. The few times that I've been told legal action was taken, they all won almost without a fight and the offenders insurance companies paid for the damage. Fortunately there was only property damage in those claims and nobody was injured.

It’s not a jet boat it’s a good size 22 foot boat with a stern drive not that it matters

Common sense and common cutesy isn't common.

There seems to be a prevailing thought of "me, me , me!" In addition to rude behavior and the belief that, " I can do whatever I want."

All of this comes down to the belief that many people believe they can do anything and if their actions are called into question, their response is that it is everyone else who is at fault. They are entitled.

So, in conclusion, when you have so many people who have not been taught to be responsible, and a society/Government that seems to condone bad behavior with excuses as to why that bad behavior is not the fault of the individual, then we have a loss of manners, ethics, morals and responsible people. Very simple, most people do not believe they are responsible for their behavior.

Cheers, Steve

I know it’s annoying but how hard is it to back out of the throttle a bit, trim down, lower the tabs and turn into the wake? With that simple method I can pretty much run through any sparkle boats wakes without much grief.

I see a ton of people beached along that stretch of the river getting pissed when one comes by sending water over the hatch. Common sense would be to nose the boat out with a small box anchor and sand spike.

Sure am glad that everyone is afraid to go north of the bridge because man it’s nice up there!

Every body has an excuse Nobody has the ability to boat in accordance to the common sense or respect of other boaters. To many swamp other boaters trying to show off stereos and skiers. I will admit I have gone well over the 35MPH speed limit on the river BUT always with respect for other boaters. After 40+ years boating on the strip you kinda learn what is right and what is wrong. Pretty much our operation. Bow out with an anchor and when I see the big wakes we slow down and attack them accordingly.

Have a really good buddy who had a boat sunk by a skurf wake so I understand the hate. But they are here so best to prepare for the wakes.

Question for the people with wake boats. Assuming you are not wakeboarding and or surfing do you have you ballast full?

Many will fill their ballast to improve their own ride quality because wake boats ride like shit. Most of them dont know that all it takes is 1/4-1/2 tank of bow/belly ballast. They instead just fill them all.

All of these wake boats stimulate the boating economy immensely. Keep that in mind [emoji6]

that’s a pretty BIG generalization....I would disagree with you. There are inconsiderate people that own all types of boats😉

we keep ours ballast full all year round

Why? even if you don’t have anyone behind it? Mead surf boats do aswell. I always think there’s no way the guy/girl driving can see a ski come across them with the bow just about shooting for the sky.

Nope. We fill and empty them in the no wake area down at the springs. Contrary to the experts around here the boat actually ride horribly with the ballast full and hate driving the boat.

I like to exercise common courtesy and respectful to everyone on the water😎

I'd say fair enough, but almost every wakeboard boat I winterize come every November has full ballast. I also enjoy draining fat sacks prior to even touching many vdrives. It's fun trying to find the pumps and adapter fittings. It literally takes everything inside of me to not pull my knife out of my pocket.

Then again it could be a regional thing....

And they wonder why the Musscles migrated into California. The inspection stations don’t check ballast systems just bilges. Another brilliant bunch of people!

Actually I think it depends on the hull, my buddies boat rode better (porpoised horribly) with about 100-150lbs in the bow ballast. We put a 3/16 shim on his taps plate to change the neutral position of it and now the ballast is empty and no more porpoising.

Have you notice the size of the rollers these boats put out right behind the transom and how long of an area they cover? I’m not talking about the normal side wake you have to go through I’m talking about what’s in between them.

Yep it’s like launching over Tecopa.

Full boat, full ballast, and add in some lead creates massive rollers. I wouldn’t surf in the narrow channels of any river, just asking for trouble. I’ll stick to the lake away from as many people as I can
