I have a son that is a kc police officer. He was in an officer involved shooting in which the suspect was killed. No officers were wounded.

A suspect was pointing a gun at people. Officers tried to deescalate but werent successful.

We have not talked to him and I have no idea what his involvement was.

He has a wife and a 1 year old. This is a trying time for them and they could use your prayers

Tell him "Thank you" for his service and let him know to keep his head up. The next day or two will be a blur for him, but give him time to process what occurred and be there for him when he is ready. He will get it through it with the he support of his department and more importantly, his family.

Make sure he knows he can openly talk about his experience once the procedural BS is out of the way. Have him insist the dept provide an option for counseling and use it!

If he needs someone disconnected from his area to feel free to talk to and be listened, I’m sure there are a few here that will listen.
