So I tried to find the record this boat held.... but no luck. Just curious if anyone knows about it? I love the old race boats and the history that goes with them.

That boat has been around for many years. As far as "world record" I think it's just the world's fastest powercat.

Ray Ledger's son Danny a runs site about Power Cats, it's pretty cool.

PowerCat was also just up the street from us when I was a kid. When they moved to Texas Howard Brown moved into that shop. There might have been another builder in there for a bit before Howard...maybe. Dick Schuster was in charge of their fiberglass division before he went off on his own with Schuster Boats, Performer, Tahiti and a few others. Gil Gaska also came from Power Cat and helped Schuster with Tahiti, he was also one of my first bosses when I was a kid.
Down at the stadium maybe 15 years ago I ran into Dick Clark who worked for Berkeley pumps in their infancy and he was with another guy who worked for Power Car. Can't remember his name but he had some great, hilarious stories about the learning curve for a bunch of wood boat builders working with resin and 'glass for the first time.
Ledger's half brother Bobby Brown was given (I have no idea what the arraignment was between them, I just know he had ended up with them) the 17 hydro molds and he started Cee Bee marine which was Avenger Boats.
Lots of great history came from Power Boats.
I think @twocents here on the board raced Power Cats back in the day. He's a wealth of info about the early days,I love his stories. Maybe he'll join in on this one.

The 17 H, which was a 3 point and later a 4 point hydro, held many records dating back to the early 60's that can be found here...

Always liked the little 15 footer. they also built this called the 16T, had a center pod running done the middle for a single engine set up.

Same driver in both the hydro above and the cat below.

They also have a FB page. I keep forgetting that because I don't do FB.
There's actually a T for sale on both the PC site and their FB site and even though it's CA I can't get a hold of the seller. I even reached out to Ledger. Just as well I guess.

I always loved this Scary "Rocket" , I picked it up in Buelton in the 90's as a bare hull rigged it as a V drive , Had it for a few years and sold it , always was a "looker" Good memories , One of literally hundred of boats we have owned bought and sold

Interesting that the PowerCat logo stickers on this boat still say…Bellflower, California.
The factory was moved to Texas in 1962 and this is a ‘63?

Side note…we are repowering my 1959 from twin 35’s to a couple of 1961 65hp engines.
The hull was rated from the factory for a single 40 horse or twin 22’s.
We’re thinkin 130 hp outta push it right along!👍😁
