After a fun summer in Powell, Bully and I discussed a “Winter Church” in Powell....

We want to see the snow and waterfalls in all the grottoes....Powell will deliver on the visuals...We just have to prep seriously and dress warm. This run would be much safer with other boats, so if anyone is interested in being involved with a second boat, we welcome the offer. This is a twin engine lake, especially in winter, so bringing a twin is a mandatory prerequisite. Not a speed event ...a survival event , as we would like to Run the San Juan arm in its entirety. This is a remote section of the lake with no services. The beauty of the San Juan arm is incredible, so we want to go as far as possible.
Let me know if anyone else is interested in this special run. Maybe the Church members in the Delta want to tow up to Powell for the run?? !!

Let’s put this together....not many have seen Powell like we will.
I've been quite a way back the San Juan arm 10+ years ago in the summer and didnt see another boat for miles. Getting to and from the lake could prove challenging also.

On Friday of Lake Powell Challenge the wife and I took our Cobalt R7 half way up the arm and saw 1 houseboat the entire time. We had lunch in Cha Bay and the boat was on the other side heading south, never even heard it due to the distance. On another note, I hope they didn't have good eyesight or a looking glass.....:D

Anyway, it's gorgeous up there. If I had a boat with whackers I'd be in for sure. It is on my bucket list to own one of those but I have a few other boats in line first. If you all do it, have a good time and I wish you safe travels, beautiful in winter for sure!

I had a heater in my Mastercraft 190 and it work great for those late fall ski runs and help extend the boating season, the latest I've boating on Powell was early November and it was in the 50's during the day and 30's at night.
Because your going in winter I was just wondering if anyone has come up with a practical way of recapturing the heat from an outboard motor to run a heater? Or you can try a 12v car-truck camping heater.
