We have a little vinyl pool with a small concrete deck, built around this small concrete deck is a much larger wood deck. The wood deck is quite old and needing to be replaced, my wife and I are wanting to just redo the entire wood deck in concrete. My uncle has cool deck on his deck and he swears by it, Cool deck seems to get mixed reviews on here though. What are the pluses and minuses for it ? Is there anything better, also can it be poured on an already poured slab as I'd like everything to look uniform.

We have Cool Deck around our pool and there is no real downside IMO. At some point we are going to redo our pool and will go with something else strictly for a different look, but our Cool Deck has been hardy over the years.

The havasu house needs the pool deck redone. Its that cool deck and every 5-8 years it needs a redo due to it lifting from the spawling caused by the alkali pushing through the concrete

Kind of depends where you’re located at, cool deck isn’t very cool in Havasu during the summer.

Don’t do any type of coating. You’ll regret it. It will forever be a maintenance item.

One hundred percent. I think my cool deck on my patio and dock is about 8 years old and it’s all lifting. [emoji1418]

We removed about 1200 square feet of cool deck and installed new pavers. Much better.

Damn, you guys have had some bad experiences. Our's is over 20 years old, and has only had a couple small fixes over the years. The last time we touched it was 10 years ago and it still looks great.

That looks really nice! Does it get hot in the summer? Could you walk barefoot in the summer? We have to think of puppy paws...

In Havasu, the pups will lay on our old cool deck in the middle of summer. Blue dog (Murphy) prefers the gravel, but when it gets too hot he moves to the deck... and eventually to the shade lol

Nope ... don’t wanna go in!

The chemicals 20 years ago are 100x better than the VOC compliant crap made today

I don't know what cool deck costs, but we did travertine tile and it was very cool last weekend and it was 95 here.

Our first two pools had cool deck, it was ok but just didn't have the look we wanted. When we built our back yard at our new house we did travertine around the pool and pavers between that and the concrete. Never any issues.
