2008 Chevy CC 1500 LTZ, 2wd. 5.3

Battery took a shit yesterday early morning, went to the dealer because I thought they had replaced it twice already, was told no, just cleaned the post. Ask how much? $180.00 friend/family price, I'm like WTF, ya ok I'll let ya know. Head down to Interstate, my nephews F.I.L. owns 2 franchises and the local guy gives me a nice discount when needing a battery. The owner explains to me that it's a special battery for 2007 and 2008 Chevy's, I'm thinking to myself REALLY, well how much, he says hey your lucky I have one left in stock, $140.00 OTD, at this time I'm just wanting to get it done and get to the shop, do it.

Is the battery really an odd type? Am I naive to the cost of batteries? Did I get FUCKED?

If it's a size that isn't common and there isn't a whole bunch made then usually stuff like that is more expensive. Hope what he had wasn't old stock.

$140 for an interstate that is going to outgas and corrode all over..yes you got fucked. I would have let them install one at the dealer, the cost on a good 4 year full warranty Delco is $141 for your truck and the 20 to install it. That is full list, and it's nothing special, group 48 or 78, common. My cost is around $100 for the Delco and $70 on the Intertrash. Just so you know the truth.

3 year warranty on the I.S.

The owner said only 3 battery companies make this type for my truck, AC Delco, I.S. and I don't recall the 3rd.

To slightly expand on the topic. The battery in my 04 Silverado is finally heading south, factory original:thumbsup coming up on 10 years of service. What would everyone's recommendation be brand wise?

Delco lol. If you got 10 years out of the first one, why would you change a good thing? That's 4 years beyond it's life expectancy.

Not my nephews FIL's store but a friend of his, not mine.

460, does Auto Zone and NAPA carry these types? What price?

Yes Phil.

And I would even offer 2 different ones. I have one at 114 and another at 134.

All of our batteries are made by Johnson control, which makes interstate .
