The Boat Companys are Bennington, Godfrey, Hurricane and Rinker.

Polaris Industries, the $5.4 billion (sales) maker of snowmobiles, off-road vehicles and motorcycles, has agreed to buy the country’s largest pontoon boat maker, Boat Holdings, for $805 million. The all-cash transaction, expected to close in the third quarter, will round out Polaris’s portfolio of power-sports products and, it hopes, give it opportunities for cross-selling.

Growth by acquisition.
Works for a while, but sooner or later they (Polaris) is going to have to start making making money with the brands they've owned for a while.

I’m guessing since it’s virtually an all cash transaction of 805 Million that they are making money. The motorcycle industry has been retreating in sales the last few years as the baby boomers continue to age so to keep the revenue stream going they needed this platform to continue sales growth. I look forward to seeing what new products their engineers can bring to the market. They’ve done a great job revolutionizing the SxS market!

I can't figure out how Polaris ISNT making money on Rzr's, if that's the case. I know the X3 took over the high end sales last year but everything you see is RZR. Shit, they just bought the glamis store to turn it into a 7 day 365 RZR home base

Polaris did the boat thing (and of course the wave runner/jet ski thing) before. Didn't work out too well for them. Jet boats they were. They even partnered w/Mercury Marine to supply the power plants.

Edit: Guess my image post didn't work. It was called a Polaris EX2100.

Fuck Polaris! They bought rights to Indian Motorcycle, built them by taking all R&D and quality resources from Victory Motorcycles while promising That Victory would be around for long haul. But as soon as Indian Lineup was complete, Polaris said FU to all Vic owners and discontinued Victory altogether.

So, should I get my deposit back? I wonder how this will impact the order that I have not turned in yet for our new Bennington. Not to mention the 10 year warranty and 5 on the merc power. [emoji848]

I worked the Windsor ramp over the holiday weekend and noticed all the new toon boats. Not many new glass boats. How come the boat builders in Havasu do not get into the market. Just look around town and most of the dealers are full of toon boats.

Polaris is making big cash on SxS’s. They’re priced like cars and far cheaper to produce.

The motorcycle market cratered during the recession and hasn’t recovered...and it may never recover.

Here’s my prediction:
Polaris will enter the outboard-engine market.

I can see that. But in the production boat size engines. Like 50 to 150hp. Perfect for their toons...
