Planned loss of a buddy.

Girls just called and told the wife and I a old friend is being put to pasture, he folowd me around like a puppy, was there by my side as I planted every tree, shrub, gardens, could suck a beer down with the.best of us,, we had our rough times, I'd beat him, he would kick my ass, head to split ways 6 years ago from my health reasons , he has tumers and lost his buetiful tail,

he is being put down Sunday, 25 years in my hands good old buddy.

We were told he's not going to tallow, will be buried, there, I have more critters in ground than I like, but would have buried him at my place.

Losing a dog is brutal. I can't imagine a horse.

It's all good the news brought back lots of memories with the family and children that grew up knowing and riding him.

Wife just got off the phone from the folks we originally got him from and said he was in the opening strutting the flag in a gumkhana last year.

Horses are amazing creatures. Maybe it's because they look into our eyes on the level, or us into theirs. Like a good dog, or other good pet, they know our moods. We had an old mare for some years. She was old when we inherited her, and she was happy as could be to get saddled up again with our young kids. She was a gift really, a saint with the young pre-teen kids. At 26, she'd developed tumors in her intestines. Was great usually, but one morning the look in her eyes was different, and it was time. The kids said their teary goodbye's. My wife took them out for the day. I made a call, and brushed her until she laid down...just about the time the vet came up. It's a kick to the gut, but it's the trade we make.
