I have never had a decent meal at Pirates
We even took friends there years ago and they said wtf is with the food
I don't understand the attraction
The channel is kinda gross too
You can park for free in clear water

Lol. Like the havasu channel. The urine and duck butter content has to be toxic...

I dont think so. I pulled into a slip and didn't get asked to pay... it sounds like a price increase on the inlet beaches / channel.

They are actually charging 20$???

Last I heard it’s optional to pay, I don’t have the docs to back that up. But maybe someone else knows?

My point is, it’s a state park. Only the park can charge you not a business to use park lands

Pirates has leased operations for the entire Moabi State Park.
They can collect what they want since they own the lease.

$5 and $10 I was OK with, not 20.
Only charged on beach side, no fee if you park on restaurant side. Restaurant side you will be asked to leave if you don’t order food/drinks from restaurant. Also no drinks from boat allowed on restaurant beach.

I don’t think its a state park anymore. You used to book spots through the state but now it’s direct with pirates cove. Pretty sure pirates took it over from the state. So in the end they can charge anything they want, until people stop coming.

food hasn't been worth it there in years, the last time we did a breakfast run there and got the bill after a mediocre meal at best and saw how much it was, I was done. Factor in the drinks costs and the new beaching fee and I don't understand why anyone still goes there.

Pretty lame to charge to beach your boat. Nautical $60.00 a night while staying there is ridiculous as well.

Holly F, it is $60 now. I was OK @ 40 since it reserved your spot and the cove is somewhat protected. I have no issue spending $$, but getting pissed very easily when I get nicked and dimed on the small stuff.

Welcome to the "New River", folks!. The weekend warriors will not stop storming up there on the weekends, they will continue to raise prices.
I'm like the rest of you, I don't get why everyone races to get over there in the mornings to stand in piss water? Food sucks, Service sucks. Guess Im getting old.

You and Wifey going to be at the river pad Memorial? Emily and I will be up there. Let’s get together if you are.

I always thought Park Moabi was a San Bernardino County regional park, now being run by Pirates.

Pirates took over the operational lease of Park Moabi 2 or 3 years ago.
SB put the operational lease out for bid when the Brown reduced the state park budget to pay for illegals and a train.

What parts of the beach do they charge for? The whole beach on the opposite side of the restaurant?

a lot changed at the Nautical for sure, years ago when they put the pool in they thought they were in Vegas. I had never paid for cove parking, then it went from 0-$100, then down to $50, now $40-$60 (they don't have any consistency). Well, in the end, I think we can all see how that worked out for them (at least in my opinion, not so good).

Whoever it is collecting the $20's at Moabi / Pirates might want to be careful what they wish for following that trend. The place is packed and lots will pay I'm sure, but I wont. There are lots of other beaches to chill like we used to there.

Never saw the attraction of sitting in pirates channel. Water has to get warm somehow. Now at 20 I wouldn't even pay 5 to sit at a beach when there's plenty of small ones I just won't look as cool since people will be driving by faster.

Love how most can easily can drop $500 in a weekend between food, gas and alcohol, but complain about $20 to enjoy a clean beach with trash cans and toilets. [emoji107][emoji107][emoji107][emoji107][emoji107]

Saving so much freaking money with my annual pass, I will gladly pay at Pirates. It is one of our favorite spots to go with the kids. Hopefully the $20 makes people stay away and I can have more beach to myself.

I can’t really call it an attraction to me, however before the Pirate was built, the beaches were calm, had lots of room for friends and families. I can remember weekends there being empty. It was a cool spot to have gatherings after having lunch at the old Topock bar.
Recently for me, I stay away on the weekends, might grab a bite during the week just because I am in the mood for the vibe.

It is not about the money. It is about taking advantage of people.

How are they taking advantage of people?

How come no one is complaining about the $15 to beach at 3 Dunes, Steamboat...etc??

It is $20!!

With an annual state park pass (which I think is at a ridiculous price compared to a lot of other states) beaching at 3 dunes, steamboat and other camping spots is included.
If we are going to pirates it is probably to eat even though the food there is good but not great. As much as can be spent at the kitchen and bar it is stupid to ask for another $20 on top of that just for access.

People own boats from 10,000 to 1,000,000 if you can afford the gas and insurance and beer for your boat you can afford the 20.00 Who do you think cleans up the mess everyday from the boaters that are pigs. pirates I'm guessing pays a crew to clean the beach so that you can enjoy it. I've never seen so many people complain about something so cheap. How about you pay 0 and one weekend a month you volunteer to clean the beach in the channel. Someone has to do it.
