Pirates Cove stops serving the Famous Untasted breakfast Burrito...and now charges for wifi. Server tells gusst they no longer serve breakfast burrito's.... and WIFI now costs something like 5.95 for 3 hours for their paying guests.
Do you think a Bar / Restaurant that is supposedly SO profitable would start to charge it's customers for wifi? And worst of all NO MORE BREAKFAST BURRITO's (not that I would know what they taste like )...:hmm

We were there last weekend and they were busy. Not sure what it will be like during the winter though.

Come on...they have the snow birds to support them......

And again, the place is paid for, so why should they give a shit!!!:D:D:D

Gotta figure with a average income of about 50 bucks a day on the famous food, they stand to make more on the internet!!!

I think its a good idea!!

Ever think they have to pay a surcharge for the wifi data usage. If data volume is large they are most likely paying for it and the only way to trim data usage is to charge for it.

a lot of places still dont understand the WiFi deal. Its pretty cheap to install and provide, but then they try to make an extra buck on it.
My wife and I do not cook, we eat every meal out at restaurants. We usually need to check on something with work, family, or friends and be available to make decisions 24/7.
When we decide where to eat, "free Wifi" is part of the decision.

The springs? As in Havasu Springs. Isn't the a bar at the dock and a restaurant further in? I've heard that it's good food, but haven't been.

Thats correct, it is further in the back of the cove there. I have always had a good meal there. Friendly folks there something that lacks with some of the servers at PC.

Makes sense to charge for 3 hours at a time. Takes that long to get served. :grumble:

crack the wifi code, I have software that does that. It takes about 10 minutes to do.

LOL.... These Pirate Cove threads are funny.
The last thing I'm thinking about at Pirates Cove is:
1. Free WiFi
2. Breakfast Burritos

Can't wait for the one in Parker to open.

We Love PC. The food is good and the kids dig playing on the beach. I also like the ride up the river.

Starbucks, Micky D's and a whole list of fortune 1000 companies tried to charge and figured out it would actually backfire trying to penny pinch and charge their paying clients....most fortune 1000 companies figured this out a few years ago so they ALL WENT FREE for their clients..

a lot of places still dont understand the WiFi deal. Its pretty cheap to install and provide, but then they try to make an extra buck on it.

BINGO.........that is what they all figured out...the ones that start charging are usually the ones that are hurting for business.

crack the wifi code, I have software that does that. It takes about 10 minutes to do.

:D I have DSL and back up air cards at the river so I am good to go almost anywhere I go....But you are right it is easy to do with the right software....

Anyone worried about wi-fi while relaxing on the river might want to re-think their game. Bikini's everywhere, shiny boats and good old fashioned people watching. Why the eff would anyone want to bury their face in a computer when the good stuff is going on all around them?

One of two things will happen.
-Their customers will balk, and it will hurt their business; and they will adjust.
-Their customers will be fine with it, and they will move more dough to the bottom line.

About two years ago Boomtown, a big casino on the west end of Reno, shut down their Lobster-all-ya-can-eat buffet. This was a big deal, good grub at a fair price and a huge draw for the casino.
We stopped in there one day (after hitting Cabelas, which is right across the street) and couldn't believe it when the whole buffet deal was gone.
My Mom likes to play there, and knows a bunch of the dealers and pit bosses. She likes me to drive her up there a couple times a year, or more if she can afford it. She plays Blackjack, and she wins.
She told them point blank, "You guys are making a huge mistake, either it will be back in less than two years or ths place will be a ghost town"
The working folks agreed, this was an order from way up the chain.

Last time we were up there to see Chris, lo and behold, big electronic sign at the Boomtown exit says "Return of the Lobster Buffet"
Yup, the customers made their feelings known. That is how it works.

I've eaten there several times and have never been impressed with any food they serve, but then again, it's bar food.
With regards to WiFi, I've never used it so I won't miss it.

Agreed its not the best. However for what it is, its reasonably priced and the service isn't terrible. I must say its much better than that crap Topac used to serve. :thumbsdown

Lots of people have wifi at their river places and need to have net connection where ever they go...

Every single business owner I know has it but I guess the people that don't own a business or run a business would not need it...love those 9-5 jobs...(by the way I dont give a rats ass if a bar or restaurant has it because I have NEVER used public wireless access anywhere anyway, never needed it hopefully never will).

But come on people, no more breakfast burrito's ??? I heard they were good if you ever had the time to wait for one :D

This, I'll disagree on. Topoc was great. Good food, service and reasonable. Never tried the burritos though.:D

Reading some of these comments with regards to the pirate now, not only in this thread but on PB since the place opened, I have to say....

some of you people are retards.

I have only been to the pirate in moabi 3 times.. All 3 times the drinks were cold, the waitresses were smoking hot, and the food was awesome.

Stopped by the one in Parker just to check it out on opening day.. They had a limited menu, our food was fast, the beer was cold, and the waitresses weren't smoking hot, but still easy enough on the eyes to make it a nice atmosphere.

The furniture, and the details in these places are absolutely amazing. The seat backs are water jet or something with pirate logos and skulls and cross bones etc.. Other then parts of disneyland, I have never seen more attention to detail on decor anywhere for a themed place then either one of the pirates.

Here's what I don't get.. People get "mad" that there is a pirate bar in Parker.. Who cares? There is room enough for everyone.

If you want a laid back old school river vibe with strong drinks goto foxes.
if you want a legit old school party bar, where a "body shot" isn't uncommon, and a wild party at night goto road runner.
If you want family friendly disneyland, tom sawyer island for the family goto the pirate bar.

For myself I'm a roadrunner guy at heart.. I like the wild shit. I miss the days of Sun Dance.. I know when Sierra is 2 - 3 - 4 etc.. I'll be taking her to the Pirate bar, because it's a favorite for the kids.

Last weekend I was watching the little kids run down to the pirate ship on the dock this last weekend, and some of the kids running and saying I CAN'T WAIT!! I was thinking, damn I can't wait until Sierra gets to do that. I remember being a little kid and walking down main street disneyland, and this place gives me that same vibe.

I know in a couple of weeks when I drag my mom to the river, the 1st place I'll be taking her is the Pirate, because road runner isn't exactly her deal. I'm happy I have a place I can take her and she would like it.

An hour later I'm reading on my cell phone "fuck this bar" and comments on breakfast burritos, and whatever else from PapaG, BBD, and a host of others.. Makes me think why so angry? Why do they care?

Just because it isn't for you, doesn't mean you have to hate it, it's just another option. Why keep talking shit on it.

My .02..

And by the way, if you really care about WiFi at a bar on the water, then it's pretty obvious you are doing this whole river thing wrong..

I have noticed a lot more negativity on the board from quite a few people. I'm thinking you need to give JBB some more power to make necessary attitude "adjustments".:thumbsup
