pictures from Nitro Revival

here are some pictures from our 3 days at Nitro revival in Irwindale this past weekend, in no particular order. i took none of these pictures. all in it was a good weekend for us, burned 14 gallons of nitro between 2 cars and hurt nothing. not everyone had the same fate.

this one mad my stomach drop last night when i saw it. this is my uncles car, he drove it in the 60's. thats me standing behind it in the black shirt with yellow writing on it and heard the bang but had no idea it was the bad. i was looking at another car and just the flash out of the corner of my eye.

Did the dragster hit something? Can you still get replacement parts or everything hand fabricated? So sad to see, looks like a beautiful dragster.

it got caught up in the safety net and the tires behind the net. no parts other than the wheels and spindles available all hand built including the aluminum body. thats a friends car and we had to cut the front end off to get it in the trailer. the good news is the driver walked away shaken but perfectly fine.

Sorry to hear! No room for error at Irwindale. We ran our dragster one time on injected alcohol at night there and my son said it wasn’t safe for the speed of a late model Victory rear engine dragster!

Glad to hear everyone is ok. The car can be fixed but lots of time and money involved to keep the toys running! I really wanted to go to the Revival, l used to work with Justin Arias and his family puts on the show. Steve Gibbs brought his Ford flathead coupe to the Fleet car show one year and he is a great guy! I heard Steve Gibbs fell I’ll Saturday, hope he is doing well!

you are correct, I forget why, but the circle track was closed. alot of times they will not put up the net and just let you run on to the back straight away and into turn 2 & 1 if you cant get it shut down in time.

Steve did not make it either day and im really bummed for him. he pours his heart into this event and to not see it go off had to be tough for him. i have dinner with him and a bunch of other guys atleast once a month.

I hope Steve gets better, what little time I spent with him he seemed like a great guy and a wealth of knowledge of drag racing and NHRA.
