Pretty stoked on the new truck, I have always driven a Chevy, I was looking for a new truck and decided to check out the Rams, so far I love this thing!

Always wondered why you can’t get that model with the Cummins. I switched to ram Cummins this year, very happy with it.
The reason the Power Wagon does not have a Cummins option is that just about everything that makes it a Power Wagon is not very compatible with the Cummins engine. The V-8 gas Hemi engine takes up less room than the inline 6 Cummins. Road and Track mentioned the fact that there would not be room for the winch if there was a Cummins in it. Another reason is that the Cummins engine is also much heavier than the 6.4L Hemi. The Cummins is 1050-1150 lbs dry, whilst the 6.4L HEMI is around 500lbs. Probably not a great idea to have a nose heavy off-road truck. Better throttle response from a gas engine might just be what you need as you’re trying to negotiate a rock.

The weight wheeling is the main issue. Reason why you see so many V10 Fords in the dunes.

How is the ride? Is it softer in the rear? They rate the power wagon at 9900lb tow rating while the standard 6.4 truck is 16k. Also the payload is less than half.

I have the Grandfather of your new Power Wagon.
1942 Dodge Weapons Carrier.
Edit...
I restored everything back to original, 6 volt, new wiring w/ correct cloth sheathing, etc.
With 5:83 gears 45 MPH is a big deal. I balanced the rotating assy but at just 50 MPH I think the pistons are swapping cylinders.
Even told a guy at a car show that was trying to pick it apart that I bought a 1944 air compressor with 1944 air still in it to air up the tires. :D

In the mid 60's I drove a 48' Power Wagon for setting temporary power poles. Had a super HD rack for carrying a half dozen poles and a gin pole with winch up front for setting and pulling them.
The thing wasn't worthy of a straight line race with a turtle, but good God, in low/low it was unstoppable, even in sloppy mud over the running boards, the tires would spin but it would keep moving forward. You could actually put it in low/low on dirt, let the clutch out, get out, take a piss, then walk back over and climb back in :p Just don't ever, under any circumstances allow your thumb to wrap around the steering wheel, or you'd lose it for sure

Ride is great, better than my Chevy 1500

can you remove all the "POWER WAGON" stuff or is it paint, stamped into the tailgate, etc? like the truck and features but the pile of badges at the door, banner on the side and rear tailgate are pretty hideous.

Great truck - get some Carli stuff underneath it and put 37's on it and you're good-to-go

Is the front end still an issue on these trucks? I thought Chrysler would have addressed the problems by now.

it can all come off w/ a hair dryer. I initially didn't like it but its growing on me, once I get the windows tinted I will figure out if I want it on or not.

It’s a potential issue on any truck with a live front axle [emoji106]

Great looking truck, congrats!

I am ordering a 2020 2500 Cummins mega cab once they begin accepting orders, supposedly early January. I was looking at new Fords and Chevy's but we love the Mega Cab and Ram owns that category. Supposedly the 2020 has the new interior and talk of 1000+ ft lbs, hopefully!

And this coming from someone who has built several hard core rock crawlers and well equipped 4x4's. The diesel simply has too much torque for Ram to sell and warranty a dependable drivetrain. We have always been careful building our 4x4's with sensible power for this reason. My wifes 89 Jeep YJ has a 96 Ford 5.8 EFI truck motor that develops 300 ft/lb of torque at 2000 rpm. It has an overall compound crawl ratio of 100:1 which means 30000 ft/lbs of torque could be available. With full locking differentials it is possible to put a large portion of that torque into and one of the axles. They are Dana 44 rated at 4500 ft/lbs (I know, I built it in 1996, if I did it now I'd use bigger axles). Do the math. Remember, Ram has to warranty it. And then there is my bone stock 2005 Power Wagon that has seen southern Arizonas toughest trails for many years reliably. No axle related failures. Dodge/Ram engineered this truck very smartly.

For our diesel needs my wife has a 2011 Duramax dually.

The first Co-Op I worked for still had their Power Wagon on the books back in the mid-90s. Lots of REAs used those trucks for a long time. You can still see their legecy on transformer Banks that are framed low on the pole, that is as high as they could get them with the gin poles on the back of the truck.

Awesome trucks in here congrats guys. I recently learned you cannot get a front bench seat in a laramie Sport package which color matches some items. Bummed about that.

Nice PW macho! I’ve owned a shit ton of these, also have a 77 macho with the older graphics as my lake truck. Currently restoring a 79 ramcharger and using the power wagon macho graphics instead of the ramcharger macho graphics. Also have a 74, 75 and 80.

So, how do you like it so far?

If anything ever happens to my 05 cummins, I’m ditching the diesel and going for a 6.4 power wagon.

So far its great, I didn't get the high end with the 18 point adjustable seat, so I sit a little high, that's really the only thing I need to adjust too.

Nice truck....Almost pulled the trigger on a new 2500 4x4 Larime cummins with the sport package on sunday but just couldn't make the trade in numbers work.

The towing would be nice but honestly the registration fees on new diesels kind of ruin it for me...lol

About to pull the trigger on one of these, any regrets so Far? It will be my first dodge truck.

No regrets, I have about just over 3k miles on it. (2) trips to Havasu and (2) to Ransburg w/ no issues. Going to Havasu I average 15.6 MPG, not great but its worth it. I end up w/ a 1/4 tank when I get there, bout the same as my Chevy 1500. The Uconnect system sucks. Nowhere near as user friendly as on-star. The app drags and the WIFI is spotty. Stereo kicks ass, its not the Kenwood and its still great, I imagine the Kenwood would be even better.

Did they switch it up? The 2018 my Dad picked up has an Alpine setup. The Uconnect seems easy to use to me. What don't you like about it? I have the mylink in my Chevy. Seems about the same just a little different.

Its probably is alpine, just got the name confused. Unconnect takes forever w/ or w/o WIFI on. When I try to use the app my phone will timeout before the app even opens (same phone and carrier) When I bought my Chevy I drove off the lot and had On-star set up w/in minutes. I took (3) days to set up Unconnect, tons of confusion on there end regarding a username. Told me because the truck is under my wife's name (she's a teacher so I use her account) that the phone being used had to be under the same name. Weird. I got it all squared away in the end, just not a smooth as dealing w/ On-Star. I will say that the Android Auto future actually works w/ Unconnect. It was offered in my last Chevy and GMC and neither worked.

I pulled the trigger today, Bill Luke in phx. It’s incredible, I’m paying cash, and they insisted on a credit app. Wouldn’t sell to me without it. If they weren’t $2k less, I would have had them pound sand.

What options? Leather? 6.4? Axle ratio?
