Wife and I are flying out of Sky Harbor. I’d like to take to a nice restaurant or place that has a great atmosphere. Thanks in advance for any worth while suggestions. Please leave out any strip joints, gay bars or adult book stores. LOL

Do they have one of those "mile high club" bars there I've heard about?
Ya might give that a go?

Four Peaks Brewing Co.

Also, be careful... every damn business inside that airport closes by 8pm. How's a man supposed to get a cocktail when he's agitated about his flight delay?!?!?
Right? I used to get in around 8:30 from Chicago with a layover to Tucson. And the place is a ghost town.... Had to hit the vending machines for a coke or something.

Are you talking about off the airport grounds? If you are, Steak 44 on 44th St & Camelback is fairly close. Richardson's or Dick's Hideaway on 16th St is a pretty easy uber ride too.

Not a lot close to the airport but this is one of our favorites not too far from Sky Harbor.

Willing to travel if there is a better spot. The wife and I are very blessed but the last few months have been tough. I want to take her to some place that is a good way to spend the evening

No, we are staying near the airport. Was thinking that there might be somewhere close. I am willing to travel around the city. Never really spent time there other than business events that are planned for us. Want to have a nice neighborhood with a fun atmospher.e

That is what I would expect from you!!!
I don't really know any "nice" places. High rolling for use is about Texas Roadhouse level. I do know where the In-N-Out and Chillis are off the 17...that's about it.

You and your wife have had some rough days, do your best to make her happy!

Hoping that if done right she might ask for the strip club or adult book store after all. LOL

The restaurant I shared is one of our favorites. You won’t be disappointed.

It sounds like you are looking for a dinner recommemdation somewhere nesr the airport, correct?

Depending on your budget and what kind of place you are looking for:
Steak44 already mentioned is arguably the best steakhouse in town, but pricey. Its better than Mastros, Ruth's Chris, and a few others in town IMO.

Rokerij is a local place with a great menu and atmosphere. Great date restaurant IMO

Olive and Ivy in Old Town Scottsdale is a good spot with several options nearby to get a drink afterwards

The Yard/Culinary Dropout is a fun place with good food

Lots of other choices, but really depends on what you are looking for.

My go to place is the Salt Cellar in Scottsdale. But, it is in Scottsdale and being from Hawaii you probably don’t want seafood.

Hula's Modern Tiki is probably my favorite spot in scottsdale. When I lived in Phoenix I was a big fan of the capital grill as well.

Edit...actually Tim there is a place called rehab..they have an interesting take on burgers..its in old town behind a spot with bottomless mimosas lol...I bet you would like it... https://rehabburgertherapy.com I get the spicy Mac burger or the ghost pepper one

Flying to Seatac today I went through two airports with closed lounges...and the fucking AA flights don't serve booze...even frontier is backing serving drinks...smh Thankfully I had a number of screwdrivers before takeoff in Austin. I'm freezing my ass off right now at the cabin in Leavenworth waiting for the Hvac systems to heat the house up sitting next to the fireplace slamming Claws over it lol

If you are looking for a brewpub type place, Four Peaks is tough to beat. I was the sales manager for them when they started distributing in California and Hawaii. Food is better than most any BP I’ve been in the Southwest and you won’t be disappointed in their beers either!
Couple others I like in the area…
Sports Bar…any Cold Beer and Cheeseburgers would be my pick.
Nice Steak and Seafood that I like not mentioned yet in Tempe..,
The Keg. Great steaks and apps
Rustlers Rooste…good food, western themed. Absolutely the best view of the valley.
Stockyards…not in Tempe but the oldest steakhouse in the Valley. Classy place, beautiful dining room and back bar.

Yes Steak 44 is one of the best in the Country.

If Steak is not your thing Lon's at the Hermosa is very romantic :)

Cafe Monarch also will not disappoint.

Where are you staying? The airport area can be a little sketchy

Going to drive through old town Scottsdale. The wife always talks about how she loves Scottsdale. We will take it from there. If anyone ever is in Surprise AZ, Nick’s is a great place for breakfast. 👍

Frankie Muniz has a little olive oil place that sells good stuff actually down there. Grimaldi's is always a good stop. Stop by patty's and have a beer for me lol

Yeah, Frontier is serving booze again because most of their passengers already act belligerent when they're sober 😂

I fly frontier back and forth from Austin to Vegas a ton to go to havasu.. it's cheap..but there is VERY seldom a time that I don't witness a fight/arguement at the gate or check-in counter with certain kinds of people. Spirit is the only one that is worse...its pure trash.

X2 on Grimaldis. Always hit it up in Scottsdale or Vegas. Always order a pizza with extra basil leaves cooked in.

Go eat at the Hotel Valley Ho, great food and funky mid-century vibe.

Had a great night. Joel (Ace in the hole) was the winner. Just be chance we hit up a couple of locations and then we followed his lead iN a pub crawl through Old town Scottsdale. Was a good night planning a good resturant with reservations when we return in a week. Thanks again for the suggestions. We might be flying out of Skyharbor moving forwared just because there is so much to experience.

Where did you end up going? I went to rehab burger for lunch a few years ago and it was really good. I have not been to Hula's Modern Tiki, but there is one on the North side of town not far from me. I have heard that its pretty good.

He went to Hula’s, patties bar across the way and then some other spots. From his texts it looked like he had a good time.

Hula’s has very good food/drinks/atmosphere... anytime I’m in Phoenix I try to go

I live in Cave Creek, and there is a Hula's about 15 minutes from me. I will give it a try.

Pattie's is a lot of fun. Used to stumble through there many years ago when I was fresh out of college with an apt in Old Town.

I have a small group of friends ranging in age from 30-65 that every year we meet for St. Pats in different places. Scottsdale is one of the rotation cities. We all love patties..it's how I found it. Shuffleboard gets competitive there lol

I know the valley like the back of my hand. All depends on what kind of food you want and what area..

I go to the one in scottsdale. I'd been to their downtown location but thought it closed/moved

we rarely fly AA...it was just a cheap flight on amex points. Wish they would have warned us about it. We usually take the Alaska flight out of Austin direct to SEA but it was sold out. FML lol. No complaints now though..im sitting by the fireplace with a beer in my hand and everyone is asleep lol

Nights young but I am old!!! LOL. Left Havasu at 6am was up at 3am. It was a typical crazy day for me and the wife and I were exhausted.
