Rarely carry cash. When I did the change just ended up sitting in cars center console.
Would empty it out every year and deposit it into kids bank accounts.
Would be on average $3-400 total per year.

I did have Penny, Nickle, Dime and Quarter collector books growing up. They are filled with coins some going back to 1900. They are in some box that I have no idea where it may be.
GrandFather got our 3 kids the Quarter books with all of the state issued quarters.

Have about a half a sparklets water bottle full of them.
I think there’s a crown royal bag or two with assorted change out in the garage somewhere.

I’ll have enough penny’s from them to last the rest of my life.

Had some coin books when I was a kid, was a fun hobby.
Had all the steel pennies from the WW2 era, many silver dimes and quarters, Indian head pennies etc, and a few rare bills, $2 bill silver certificate , another $2 bill with red ink in places, don’t remember what it was called.
All got stolen out of my dads condo sometime in the late 80s

Asshats paid something at the DMV and a couple other places.

Democrats will spin it Musk needs the copper for his hairpin Electric Motors.
Recovering solid copper pennys will no doubt be lucrative in metal value. I am sure they have been already and releasing plated.

Knew 2 brothers that lived around the block and they also had a sparkletts bottle full of change 'bout 3/4 full. One night when they were watching TV, it exploded.
Said it sounded like a gun shot and scared the shit out of them.

Doesn't it cost more than a penny to make a penny? Seems like a wise decision to me to end it, unless the cost was even.
I have been hearing it costs .03 to make a penny, all day.

I will probably go get at least 2 rolls from the bank to stick in the safe for my kids. Right next to the couple of $2 bills I have for them in there.

What U.S. Coins Are No Longer in Circulation?

The U.S. Mint has stopped producing a number of coins over the years as they have lost value or usability.
  • Half-cent coins (minted from 1793 to 1857)
  • Two-cent coins (1864 to 1873)
  • Three-cent coins (1851 to 1889)
  • Half-dimes (1792 to 1873) [later replaced by nickels]
  • Twenty-cent coins (1875 to 1878)
  • Dollar coins:
  1. Eisenhower dollar (1971 to 1978)
  2. Susan B. Anthony dollar (1979 to 1981, 1999)

The tooth fairy gives the kids 2 dollar bills
Exactly what I wanted to do a few weeks ago when my 6yo daughter lost her first tooth. But she was so excited to get money from the tooth fairy so she could buy her own toy, I slipped her $5.

I ain't proud of if, but last year I "cashed in" a couple year's worth of change. 4 Folger's cans full 🤣
1200 bucks!

Bought my first car with change in a plastic Spatlets bottle...about 700$ in 1991. 64½ Mustang shitbox.
