Damn not one thread about it. I’ve said it here before, my great uncle walked off the Arizona to go to another ship and meet his friend for church. On his way the attack started. By the time he made it back to the Az it was sunk. He decided to make his way back to his friends ship and by the time he got there it was sunk.

I think every American should visit the Arizona memorial! A very sober and great tribute to the servicemen who lost their lives on December 7. Freedom is never free. Never forget the brave servicemen that paid the ultimate price for our freedom!

Nearly half the deaths at Pearl Harbor were on the battleship Arizona, 1,177 perished on the AZ. Total deaths in all of Pearl Harbor, 2433. I’ve stood on our bridge wing, while dockside at Pearl, and watched the globules of fuel rise to the surface. A very sobering experience I’ll never forget.

It’s all relative. My dad wasn’t born then. I wasn’t born when Kennedy was shot. A lot of youngsters now weren’t born in 2001.

Personal schedule has been busy. I just sat down to unwind a bit and immediately said the date today to my wife.
This date is NEVER to be forgotten. The incredible sacrifices and impacts of this day in history are just unreal.
We honor and pay respects often.

If you have never been to the USS Arizona Memorial, don’t pass up the opportunity! Its bone chilling.

Reading a book of Erin Pyle world war two war reporter who embedded with front lines troops.
It vividly describes the daily life of the American troops and makes me understand how much so many sacrificed to win that war.
Hard to believe we are know aligned with Japan and Germany after the destruction they caused.
