South OC, California- I haven't received my tags. I paid on 5/20 on a 5/31 expiration. I've received two tickets in the last 3 days (parked). This seems to be a bit excessive. I paid the first one immediately, but honestly, I don't feel I should be penalized because the DMV can't get their shit together.

One state department sucks at what they do, and the other one is penalizing me. Is there a way to fight the tickets?

You should get them dismissed if you have the print out showing you paid online.

My F350 tags were due 5/31. Could not renew online had to snail mail. Had to have envelope post marked by 05/30, DMV finally cashed check on 06/24. Still no stickers in the mail.

This was in an unincorporated area of Mission Viejo.

Just because you paid does not mean it's registered. You might need a smog or smog at gold star.

Little known secret...inside the dmv is a drop box instead of using snail mail. Those usually get processed in a day or two by that local office. Anytime we've done it we get our stuff back real quick.

My wife loves to snail mail check payments. It took like 3 months to get her stickers. Even hit up the PD at her work and they were showing it was expired. I kept telling her not to park on the street or she’d get a ticket or worse, booted. I did mine online and they showed up in a week.

I never snail mailed any thing in Ca when it came to registration of any vehicle.
I realized that any bureaucratic entity does not care about your well being.
I retired from the DoD after 29 years of service in 2017 to AZ.
I was assured by OPM and my carry over medical insurance provider that everything was OK.
Well they both screwed the pooch.
The idiots did not know the difference from Mohave County where I live and Maricopa county.
Yes they put my medical insurance coverage in Maricopa County, I am a resident of Mohave County.
After a year of spending hours of phone time with both my insurance provider and OPM they told me my primary medical coverage has been reinstated, however, I have to wait for open season to reinstate my Dental and vVsion coverage.
This was not my dereliction of providing the proper information. They fucked up.
I will be on the phone with both OPM and my insurance provider on Monday morning.
And I thought retirement and getting out of CA was supposed to be fun.
Sorry to jack this thread
I sincerely hope all the inmates have a fun and safe weekend.
Remember what our flag stands for.
Fuck Kapernick. :p

Thanks. Did not even think about it. Pulled the paperwork out on the 30th to pay and finally figured out I could not pay online. Had to leave for airport same day, so they went old school.

If your registration is good, go get them signed off.
How it should work but here in fullerton i got an overnight parking one years ago and same deal reg paid waiting on sticker well the cunt also cited for expired tabs tried to get signed off and was told well it didnt have a current sticker on it and thats what i was cited for also so too bad.

Parking patrol can be ruthless here i normally park in driveway but here and there i forget its a hit or miss but a neighbor pissed them off and they come by more often.Sucks the apartment overflow at end of my street park on our street my side may get tickets the overflow nothing!

I would hate to be driving that long without current tags even if they had been paid.

Cops look for any reason to pull you over and check you out. Look how many major drug busts are made for not signaling a lane change, a turn signal out etc. I was watching on of the live tv cop shows and they pulled a guy over for no light for his rear license plate.

Little stops can turn into big hassles. I perfer to limit my interactions with police when i am the one being questioned. I will say i dont have a record and my son is a leo

I snail mail usually 4-7 days roundtrip, title transfers about the same, or instant service at the counter. Oh the agony of being a red state hillbilly. BTW, quad is $12 and the powerstroke is about $30.

Wow that's strange. My wife mailed in the check for our buggy registration and it took them almost a month to cash it.DMV v is hit or miss on a lot of stuff. Finally got the tags last week . Lucky we didn't wait till last minute to pay them as they seem to take their time getting things processed.I also see cars on a daily basis running around with tags that are expired sometimes by years.

Several years back I had some one steal the sticker off my work truck. It was due in june. I got pulled over end of November, that's how I found out about the tags. So I jumped online and ordered a replacement sticker. 2 weeks after I got next years sticker I got the old one.

Get proof of payment, go to your local cities clerks office, or court that is assigned to, and get them dismissed. Big picture is find out why you don't have your tags yet. All my recent reg. payments have been here within two weeks... actual two weeks, not RDP production two weeks.:D

IF you registration was paid up at the time of the citation, that is a bullshit deal. DMV takes up to 90 days to process, and if this is the case, just show proof of paid fees with date and it goes away.

DMV's fucked!

I had to mail in my tags like the OP, no AAA or online option for 1 ton trucks, so mailed them a week before they were due and 2 weeks after due date, still no tags and I'm into late fees. I go to DMV and tell them the story, her quote was "we have 30 days to process it from the time it's due, not when you mailed it" so not wanting to pay double the cost of registration because of late fees, they have lost my payment before and I got fucked, I paid it again while I was there, being assured by the idiot employee that since I already paid and received my tags that day they wouldn't cash the check, guess what, they cashed the check?

Fuck the DMV!

I register my E350 and GMC 3500 every year at AAA, I think maybe you were given bad information.

Something is off. I have since learned 1-tons in CA can’t be renewed online and the AAA by house does not carry the weight stickers, so mail or DMV kiosk.
My CA registration said “mail only” and envelope has to be postmarked by 31st to avoid late fees.

Won’t help with your current situation, but I recently used the DMV kiosk at a grocery store and it’s awesome! I’d always mail in the registration checks and get stickers weeks or months later... the kiosk prints your sticker right then and there!! Easy peasy!

No AAA carries weight stickers, DMV offices only! I even tried the kiosk at the DMV and it shut me down

Were you cited for CVC 2504 (a)? If it was for VC 5204(a), your expired tabs are valid as long as you paid for your registration before it expired (which it appears you did according to your post). Also, if you show proof of correction (new tabs on the car), the fine is reduced to $10. Whereabouts in OC did you get cited?

My wife always mails on time then she got a fine notice for another 75 bucks due in April cashed in June. She sent another check and a note explaining the situation and a copy of cashed check with date on it etc. our surprise they sent her tags last week and the extra check she sent. Our thought was its DMV not gonna win just pay it. Told her buy lotto ticket.

Agree on both kiosks and AAA. I just registered my motorhome with my farmers insurance agent. In and out i like 15 min... i would seriously consider needles DMV if it has to be california too. A great excuse to head to the river...
