I think I want to do this on January 6.. it’s a poker run that is one lap of the Parker 400 before the race starts..

Anyone else want to do it?

I'm pretty interested in this; it will give me a reason to leave Montana and come back to Arizona. I think this may be a more spirited run. Angie would sit this out, and my son would join me. I have to look closer at the registration. It is nice that you can buy fuel.

What offroad vehicle would you be running?

This sounds fun.

Bring an extra couple of gallons of gas if you are gonna drive spiritedly. That is still a 90 mile stint on the back end.

I've never driven this part of the desert before, but my dad always tells a story about one time they were trying to get from Quartzsite to Desert Bar and accidentally ended up on the course. The way he tells it, 2 seat UTV were down to 10-15mph with the giant trophy truck bumps, any truth to that?

Yes they can be. We’ve done part of the Mint course and the whoops could make a VW disappear.

Where all our Ricky racers like @Bpracing1127 ? 142 miles! Let’s go!
Racing it.....!!! Not doing the poker run though, gonna pre run it Wednesday during open pre run. They usually give away some good prizes during the poker runs, should be a good time. A few of the "Ricky racers" will end up rolling their car trying to turn a good lap time during the poker run to prove they are "fast"... happened to a few guys during the UTVWC in Havasu poker run, hahahaha.

Yeah those are fun... and The Mint is a "NO PRE RUN" race, so the notes they provide say "slow up, bumps...." and they should say "SLOW UP DIPSHIT, MAN EATERS UP AHEAD!!!". Thats why you buy race notes from Erika Sacks, worth EVERY penny!! Her notes are SPOT ON!!!

My Can-Am. My son will be up here in Montana on Friday; we will talk about it and see if we can do a quick prep job and solve for fuel/tire in the short time between the holiday and my trip back to AZ.

I may move up my trip back to leave Montana on the 29th, depending on the weather.

I would be willing to chip in if we could find someone to half-ass chase/pit support as an insurance policy.

I would be down for that as well but I don’t think we’d find any takers..

You'll be able to make it with only a gallon or 2 of extra gas. If you conserve on the entire back half, you may not need any at all. The Can Ams are pretty good on fuel.

A set of adapters may solve your tire concerns? Is it a spare tire problem you are solving for?... at least opens you up to Polaris spares as well out on the trail.

The link says they have fuel or a fuel stop. @82daytona just did wheels and tires on his new CanAm Maverick R. Maybe you can buy his old ones.

I thought he had a new one, What's he looking for? I have a set of takeoffs off my 19 Maverick in my storage. Someone could have them if they need them.

I have a spare, just not a tire mount. I scavenged some parts from Tim to build one, but I won't have time. I think I'll pick up a sidewall patch kit and a gas bag. I already carry an onboard compressor and a plug kit, yet I've not solved the jack yet. My plan is to sacrifice some performance in favor of making the rig more long-distance trail-friendly; however, for a ride like this, I think my plans are thrown out the window. Or at least in the time frame I have available.

The car can go 100 miles, but anything after that is a gamble. Tossing a tire on the back will drastically change the performance, and currently, it works pretty well. After this season, it is going to need a shock service, so I figure I'll adjust for weight increase at the same time and slow down a bit.

From what I understand post race blm made BITD grade the course.
I recall mile 120-130 being the worst for large rock. Maybe other can chime in.

A lot of the course is high speed graded road especially after bouse and back to midway

That’s a good plan.

I can share with you my scissor jack setup. It’s only a few lbs if weight is a concern. I also have a couple small gas can recommendations that don’t break the bank, and are easy to mount.

I would love to see Jack. I've used these in the past, but I borrowed them and never purchased them; they work very well.

Those bags work pretty well.

Here is my trail jack setup. It’s enough for tire changes and minor repairs, but very compact for easy storage. It is a scissor jack from a compact car with a 911 Motorsports trail extension.

I used an aluminum scissor jack, with the extension and the whole thing is about 5 lbs. But even a steel car scissor jack is pretty light and compact.

You can use the jack with the saddle only, and they offer a 6” or 11” extension tube. This is the 6” tube.

I also added the hex fitting on the end to run it up and down with a ratchet or impact.

Just modify a travel trailer hitch jack. Pull the handle off, weld a socket in its place to use with a drill and add a little finger to the side of jack to lift the chassis and change the tire. You can then mount it out of the way against the frame or roll cage.

I looked at that, and that is easy. They just take up too much space in a play car :). This setup fits in a small box in the bed with the rest of my tools and parts.

How many beer stops are we planning? Or is this one of those “bring my own champagne/trophy” deals?

Can I answer your question with a question?

How cold do you want it to be when you are done? 😁

I’d shoot to try to leave by 9:30 at the latest and done by 4 at a moderate pace with reasonable stops.

Desert bash was 60 miles with a 8 beer stop. So @142 miles this should be between 16 and 20 beer stops,....
That's a perfect amount of stops for Desert Bash if you had 2 beers at each stop .... We cut the stops down too 5 or 6 because some of our group wanted to do the light parade ..

The bladder should determine stops. Refilling the bladder may happen at each such stop, increasing the velocity of stops like compounding interest. Basic RDP math says that the earlier the first stop occurs, the more likely the total sum of stops will increase. Determining the final finishing time and beers per mile depends on the starting time and the appetite for the beverage's early morning consumption. The condition of the course and ride frequency may influence the outcome.

Common Core Math.

Has anyone ever used these? They have them on the shelf at the ranch supply place down the street here in MT. Seems like cheap insurance. I usually throw plugs at a sidewall with limited success.
