One of my good friends is driving the Team Woody Lavey Craft this season. Water is rough out there today, should be a cool show!

What doesn't this guy do? Even saw him paddle boarding on Tahoe.

The coarse was too rough for the cats to be running it that water. Never like seeing anyone role there boat.

So I kinda felt like the camera folks had no concept of bracket race. Seems like they just followed the Apache and the Cig the whole race. Team Woody actually won their class in the Lavey Craft, but they did blow the drive up at the very end of the race. Jeff’s normal throttle guy was actually in the first cat that blew over. He had a guy named Steve Combe running throttles for him during the race. I caught some screen shots of the only time the cameras even showed the boat during the race. The other Team woody boat was shown for a split second as well but I didn’t catch any shots of it. I do have a pic of all three of the boats on the trailers though.

Jeff, one of my best buds from way back, with the trophy at the awards ceremony. He’s been racing with the Team Woody guys for a couple of seasons now. Chad and Billy, the team owners and the drivers of the Fountain race boat, are both really cool dudes I’ve hung out with them at Desert Storm in the past.

Left to right, the Fountain, the Lavey, and The other boat is a Phantom out of Sarasota FL. Pretty cool hardware!

While I never want to see this, I'm thinking these guys ran out of talent. They are doing maybe 60? I ran my 28' Daytona in lot rougher stuff than that in Tahoe and never flipped it.

Are you comparing Professional drivers on Open Ocean to Tahoe:rolleyes: Are you high, drunk or just stupid? BTW no one GAF about your Daytona and what you did or didn't do back in band camp.🖕

I grew up in Cocoa Beach and my parents have a place that is directly in front of this race course. Ocean front. Let me say it gets extremely rough out there. If you watched any of the race, you could see huge holes everywhere on the race course. There are places where these massive race boats were out of sight due to the size of the swells. I'm sorry Grads, but there is no way you can compare boating on Lake Tahoe with your Daytona to running in the Atlantic Ocean in a race boat. At times, this course can be almost as rough as Key West. 🙄

I really have to say, I couldn’t disagree more. THIS is what offshore racing is supposed to be. It’s not about 47ft boats running around in protected bays with no waves or swells. There are plenty of smaller boat classes that do that, and are very exciting to watch. This is about a team VS Mother Nature, and let the best team win. The boats that went over , had been given plenty of warnings before they both did. It was 100% crew error in both cases. The commentators seen it coming, but the crews ego , wouldn’t let them back off. Im all for snotty water when it comes to offshore racing.

You beat me to it. 3-4’ swells rolling up on a sandbar carry a bit more juice than Tahoe, Mead or any other inland lake wind slop.
