My buddy Matty just added ITS and wanted to see how she runs. First time in the water!

Little short propped but ran a 100 easily. Cruises to the springs 90+ most of the way.

Those boats are so bad ass.. doesn’t it have a 600 in it?

Such a bad ass rig. Wish Eliminator would have kept doing them, was jonesing to see the WTOB model. 100 in a 600 is faster than a Bullet with the same power.

If memory serves me isn't this a stage 3 600, 750hp? I remember reading about the numbers they put up and that was after whipple did a little.

I'll let Matty respond, but I believe this one just has a computer flash on it. No pulley's etc. It will run 104-105 somewhere in there. It isn't much more than a stock 600.

That all said one with a box stock 565 ran 99 mph not that long ago..

You have to remember, even though it's a 29 this thing is cut down / low profile / laid up light.. I'd bet my 27 Hallett weighs double less rigging, and probably is 2-3' taller from keel to deck. It's a small / light 29 straight up race boat with some interior.

Fun as shit to drive though! :D Been awhile since I've driven a hot rod, and that's exactly what these things are.

That hull is amazing.. 30-40 mph it's still feeling like it's coming on plane. 70 feels like it's idling. 80 feels like a 1/4 throttle in my hallett! The whole thing is pretty surreal.

When you get into the upper speeds it gets a little techy.. but 70-80's it honestly feels like you are doing 30-40 just cruising around.

Here’s my buddy’s 2012 SV29 that ran 99@LOTO winning his class by over 12 mph. It was delivered July 2012 and ran the 99 at LOTO on the 1 mile course in August 2012 with a stock 565/ITS combo.

Mike Griffiths (formerly of Mercury Racing) set this boat up and it did run 101 in Lake Winnebago with a large diameter prop that ended up wiping out the tips and never performing the same after the damage.

I’ve driven this boat 98 full of fuel with 2 people.

The drive height got lowered to make it easier for the owner to drive and for better planing with a load. It still runs 98 with a 1/2” spacer in the drive.

I pulled it to my house with my 5.3 Suburban, 70-80 mph no problem.

I was told the boat weighs approximately 4600.

It’s too bad Matt’s boat doesn’t have a stock computer, because the 565 propels it to knocking on 100, the 600 stock will run 100-103. OL spent a lot of time developing the hull and figuring out CG. Brian Forehand took it even further on the race boat.

Thanks for the write-up, Dave, and enjoy your boat, Matt!

Matt is running a Merc 600 with the whipple stage 3, the fastest we have it going prior to the ITS swap was 106 @ 5700 ish with a 34 Maximus straight hub. A solid 106. The prop he and RD ran is a Herring 30.. 102 is all that prop will do, gets into the rev limit.

I'm gonna take a guess that they are out of my reach but this.is a bad ass boat. This might be one of the most efficient v hulls ever. I want to keep an eye on the mold just in case that lottery money comes Rollin in.

I believe Dan and his dad are still building a SV29 400 boat. That would be a hot setup. I'm a big Outerlimits fan, always have been. I'd like to see them build a cat off of the design of the SV29.

I'm curious why you didn't video it getting on plane, and doing some turns? There's a million 100mph boat videos out there. That would have been cool to see with the top speed run at the end.

Dan is at Lake Cumberland poker run running their SV29 with 565 power this weekend. He told me yesterday it’s for sale...

I think after the 131 performance by the 28 Tuff with 860/M6 power that this would be similar.

But I like the way you think :D

Hey guys. Sorry it was non stop after arriving for the IMSA race at Laguna Seca. So I'll try and fill in some of the blanks with a run down of the OL.
This is hull two of the 4 original pleasure boat Sv29’s. Not counting Marker 17 race boat formally Doc’s boat.
The original owner told me He had the boat returned to stock (pulley/tune) and installed a 1" drive spacer to calm the boat down and make it easier to get on plane in rough water. The high x, low overall weight due to composite construction, and super efficient hull makes the boat lightening fast. We were able to get a sustained run of 101 at 5400 running a worked 36p 4 blade Mercury prop. So to all those who questioned weather a stock sv29 600sci boat could go over 100 mph the answer is YES! LOL now keep in mind the boat was an absolute handful at that speed with that prop. We ended up locating the six blade herring 30p prop pictured in the video. We found that the boat ran super stable at all speeds and was a solid rough water prop good for mid to upper 90's but definitely under propped. It was during this time I went to a Whipple stage 3 and that pushed the Herrings top speed to right at 100 mph. We tested a couple other props and I then found a 5 blade Maximus worked by BBlades for a great price . This prop so far has been the fastest with us achieving 105 mph at 5400rpm but conditions didn’t allow us to explore the remaining 400rpm left on tap. I'll be honest and say the boat never felt planted over 100 and I’ve posted a few videos where you can see the hull rocking back and fourth from one step to another. Trust me it's a very unnerving feeling especially at triple digit speeds in a single engine Vee. It was then decided after talking to Dan at OL and then talking with Mike Griffiths formerly of Mercury Racing that switching to the ITS would set the prop back in cleaner water which would resolve the high speed handling and it did. I can't thank Mike enough for all of his incite on what he and the owner of the blue 565 SV29 had learned from all the testing they did. So that brings us to the video shot Thursday by RD. This was literally suppose to be a quick function check and also verify no motor leaks or issues from having removed it. The boat popped out of the water and on plane like nothing and right away felt like a much more planted hull, hence our 1o1 mph achieved top speed during the run. I was forced to guess on the motor trim and go by feel since nothing had been reprogrammed yet which was also the reason for not using any trim tabs on this run.
The boat is a completely different animal now with the ITS and to have felt as confident in the boat as I did in running blind like that says a lot. I believe Dave will be putting a full video out later and that should contain some turning at various speeds as well as getting on plane. Looking like there is plenty more to come in the near future!
