Just got a call from a family member in CA and they are very concerned about this internet outage and network failures. It isnt just a simple outage. They are in LEO and suggested I fill the gas tank and keep my head on a swivel. Its quite possible this is going to grow quickly and things could spiral out of control.

They are not conspiracy nuts or anything like that.

Pay attention peeps and do what you have to

Appears to be a bad update to, wait for it, cyber security software. Oops.... On the news here it is a mess at the airports, as the big three here have ground stopped and canceled flights.

Eventually (when I have no idea) all communications will be cut in a tech warfare type attack. I went ahead and filled up my 150G diesel tank on the truck and took some money out of the bank already this morning. Never hurts to stay prepared.

Enemies are pouring over the border and here already. For all we know this could be a probe to test run stuff like this. Who really knows but there are plenty of enemies to the USA just waiting for the chance to flip us upside down.

Hopefully they know what it is and get it fixed

I am not a prepper but I am trying to stay as prepared as I can for me and my family.

To each his own

This was exactly my point in my response to Whiteworks thread yesterday about the Internet. Hopefully it is a test and everyone can learn something from it. As a country we are too reliant on the internet and with all of the division and hate right now it’s a scary situation. I was never really a prepper until I moved to the hurricane state but it’s a good idea. 😂

My girlfriend is traveling for work and now stuck in Idaho trying to get back home to SoCal. Doesn’t look like her 7:30am flight on Delta to John Wayne is going anywhere soon. She has no idea what she’s going to do. This doesn’t appear good.

A fix has already been released.
She will get home, just delayed 4-6 hours

There were a couple issues. Microsoft had issues in their cloud yesterday and then Crowdstrike which is a leading cyber security vendor deployed a faulty update that impacted windows machines running the crowdstrike agent. They rolled it back but it left significant number of computers with the "blue screen of death" windows screen. Its impacted at least 24k companies world wide... been up all night restoring systems.

Its nightmare fuel. I saw it happening last night and thank god we dont use Crowdstrike in our security stack.

Thinking of my fellow IT friends that are absolutely screwed right now.

Every machine has to be touched IN PERSON. If you have encryption keys, good luck is all I can say. Holy shit. A day in history AGAIN!

I'm not seeing any disruptions currently, including applications that sent notice of down time. Hopefully it holds for me, but I've got people all over the world, so my guess is today is gonna be spicy.

Prepper's get a bad wrap for being crazy, but it's not about zombie attacks, it's about having confidence that normal everyday disruptions won't have a negative influence on life. Traveling around in an RV full time made it especially difficult for us to feel that confidence, it was a major contributor to us ending the experiment.

My girlfriends flight shows on-time too. Most of the flights show on-time. It’s another story whether it leaves the gate or not.

LAX is on the news. It’s a shit show.

Wonder if this had anything to do with our power outage this morning? We are in Temecula (French Valley) and power went out sometime between 2am - 3:30am.

If your network is impacted by this outage with the infamous blue screen of death. Try these steps to get back online.

Maybe just drive, if she can get a rental car.

She’s in Lewiston ID now at their little airport. No rental cars available. If she can get to Seattle or Spokane her opportunities open up but she needs to get out of Lewiston.

The family and I are currently stuck in Cancun due to this. We boarded a Frontier plane at 4:30 yesterday afternoon. We were deboarded after two and a half hours of being told they were waiting for the paperwork to be cleared for take off. Frontier provided a hotel last night and ground transportation. At midnight they released alternate flight options for us. All of the options for today and tomorrow are 20 hour or more trips to get to Dallas. Like, fly to Philly then massive layover for flight to Dallas. They had a direct flight to Dallas on Sunday that we opted for. Hopefully all is sorted out by then and the worst of this is the hit to my pocket book for a couple of extra days stay.

There are worse places to be stuck for a couple of days!

lol.....I have beans, rice, water and other stuff but prepper....naw.....thats an entirely different level

Lets call it good situational awareness skills :)

I think you are a prepper. The media has worked to make fun of people who prepare for potential (and perhaps inevitable) supply chain issues, war (either here or abroad), long-term power outages, water supply disruptions, etc. They do not want preparation and self-sustainability to be the norm. They want people to depend on the government to save them. So they poke fun of people who prepare, aka preppers, and act like they are paranoid weirdos. Some are, certainly, there is always a lunatic fringe for every group. But there is nothing wrong with being prepared to be as self-sufficient and knowledgable as possible in these situations.

Remember, in both previous world wars, there was rationing, even though the wars were fought on foreign soil (Hawaii excluded). There was only so much gas, sugar, flour, tires, etc. I have a Victory cookbook (how to make your pantry stretch further) and a Victory sewing book (how to recycle your husband's shirt into dresses for your daughter). That was when people still knew how to cook and garden. I collect these Victory items for decoration and I had some in the classroom to share with the kids. I even have the ration books here somewhere. Can you imagine if this entitled bunch today actually had to ration? Lord, there would be riots.

You and Jeff def stay prepared.

I forget how many meals missed is estimated before roving crowds start to riot. Something along the lines of a couple of days.

If I have to I will eat beans and rice everyday no problem.

Its true they have made fun of preppers for years in the media. There are extreme examples of course that I think goes too far but who am I to judge?

Everybody should have enough resources to get by for a few weeks minimum IMO.

Was on a flight from SLC that was supposed to go to Ontario at 11:15. We boarded plane and sat for several hours. Ended up deplaning and going home. Flight ended up cancelled. Just called Delta and my expected wait time was 9 hours.

I am sitting in Newark NJ. Flight to Phoenix is delayed 4 hours now.

Fingers crossed it’s not worse than that. My girlfriend grabbed another flight with Southwest since they seem to be operating okay. SkyWest (regional connector service) appears unaffected as well.

My buddy works for a large pharmaceutical firm in their I.T. sector. They’re completely shut down. Everyone has the blue death screen on their laptops.

I may have dodged a bullet, but I'm unique, the rest of our global business is not as lucky. Good times.
