I'm looking to buy a new boat since moving to Scottsdale for Havasu. Previous experience was on California Delta. I want a boat that will handle the rough chop found on a lake, and that will move along at a good pace. For example, my buddies Liberator would go through the big water in the delta at 70 with no problem, skimming right over the top of the water. I want something similar, but in an open bow boat like an 23ft Ultra or something similar. What will do the job? TIA.

Hallett 240, hallett 270 non step, and the nordic 28 heat would be my top choices

So many good boats would fit your needs for Havasu. The boats already mentioned are all good quality and will handle the lake on Friday and Saturday when the boat wakes are the worst. A couple of others that could also meet your needs would be; a Nordic Rage 25 and the Shockwave Tremor 25 and of course...a 24 Schiada, if you can find one

27 Hallett, 25 Bullet, 25 Shockwave Tremor....but if I were building one from scratch I would do a 2750 Lavey New Era...with the twin OB's... Their hull is proven in offshore racing and now with the twin outboard option it would be a really different boat.

I am extremely biased but I have loved my 25 Bullet for 16 years and it handles the afternoon slop at Havasu like a champ as well as the big stuff on Powell. Also, if you are pulling skiers, etc., I would not go bigger than a 25.

Lets not leave out a Cobra
The 260 will smash anything Havazoo has to offer

Question is how is the ride on the Great Mohave Basin ;)
I can tell ya the 260 cuts thru it

My 260 Cobra rides good but it's a big boat for 1 person operation. Howard 25' Bullet walk thru open bow my friend has handles the rough better and 1 man operation.

So nobody has asked..... Cat or Vee? OP mentioned the ride quality of a Liberator which is a tunnel but most boats mentioned here are Vee's. If a cat is preferred, Id suggest the 25 Daytona.
