here's living proof that once the "flat bottom" get's in one's blood, it tends to stay forever :thumbsup.............over 50 years ago my Pop's took us to Bass Lake in the "family" ski boat which also doubled as our "ski racing" boat, on our "vacation". Every day at about dusk Pop's would hook me up on my racing ski an "troll" the shoreline looking for ANYBODY that thought they had a "hot boat" we'd race from one end of the lake to the other I think the ONLY guy that beat us was a Sanger hydro called "White Mist" . Sid was living at the lake back then, he was a regular driver at the drags on Lake Ming , he came out to "play" with us one night, he COULD not believe he got beat by another boat with some scrawny ass little kid skiing behind it ........anyways, he came back to our beach/camp, shot the shit with Pop's for a bit an said for sure let him know when we'd be up there again, he wanted a re-match................fast forward 50 some years, Sid now lives in Havasu, he was just starting to do a resto on this DiMarco an recruited my Pop's to help him with it. When it came back from paint, him and my Pop's started rigging it. Picture this if ya can, an 86 year old an a 80 year old guy, crawling in, out, over & under, putting in the strut shaft, rudder, cav plate, engine, V-drive etc., etc, these two DID IT ALL. About half way into the rebuild, my Pop's decides at this stage of his life, he NEEDED another ( this would be #6 ) flattie for him ..........believe me when I tell ya, these boats are NOT gonna be "trailer queens" as far as doing the "hey LAM" boat show thing, NOTHING could be more wrong as far as these two are concerned, they just wanna go & see ...................and BTW, I pity the poor "young buck fool" that run's into either one of these "old guy's " on the water an thinks, 'WTF is that old man doing in THAT boat?" :thumbsup
