Guy told me he uses oil emulsion for steel and synthetic alcohol for aluminum as cutting fluids as they are smokeless..

Anyone use this stuff?

I use water soluable oil straight out of the CNC in a spray bottle on the manual machines, it works super good.

I use isopropyl in a spray bottle when doing aluminum with small diameter cutters as it has almost no surface tension so it will actually carry the swarf.

Yes both are smokeless. However if you are spraying a lot of alcohol get the fans going 🤣

The smokeless is nice on the lathe, as you know how quick you can smoke the whole shop with rapid tap or cool tool.

X2 on the soluable oil out of a spray bottle on the manual machines. Steel, aluminum, pretty much everything. There was an oldtimer I met years back that had some concoction that had bacon grease and something else. I bet it smelled amazing.
