there are a large number of whales dying with no explanation as to why. this is in the same area where they are constructing offshore windmills, of course the all-electric freaks deny there is any connection, fortunately Hillary cleared it up for them, stating the whales obviously committed suicide.

Sissy worked at Scripps, running the SEM lab. There was a Grad Student/Professor from Peru working on one of the byproduct Navy sonar studies, projects designed to try and figure all the Fish/Whale/Shark Sonar comunication. Trippy.

We were tasked with obtaining the one local wierd Shark species that are known to use the sonar, for his studies. So My BIL, and I would fish off of the Scripps Pier at night. It was so much fun teaching all the Grad students involved, from all over the world, how to fish. We did manage to get Him his all his fish. Caught and Released a LOT of dinners in the process. One night we both managed to not bring any bait. No worries, A Mackerel spoon, and 5 minutes later, we're in business.

The name of the Shark species escapes me, but they have a face that looks like a Shar Pei.
The Institution looks like Raider's of the Lost Ark HQ
Fun Times.

Back in the day, 2AM, floating off Black's Beach, just north of that pier, was our Honey Hole for filling the Mackerel tank for tossing at Marlin.
Big quartz lights on, toss some cat food in the water, barbless hooks, we could load up fast before heading out to the grounds.

Had a buddy who enjoyed scuba diving that La Jolla Trench at night. I guess there's some real big strange fish down in the depths of that canyon that wander up to feed at night 😬
I caught a very large (Like over 300 lbs) Hammerhead trolling past that trench one afternoon, I don't want to see what comes up at night. 🙄
I told him he was flat-ass batshit crazy and I wasn't going with him. 👎

I am sure it does not have anything to do with the big hole we put in a Russian pipeline.

Beautiful stretch of the California coastline. I always enjoyed lunch dates at the Torrey Pines gliderport. Little Sammich shop there. The Preserve is a cool day hike too. Fishing the Pier was awesome. The KId's from Italy and France were good Kid's.
I think the PHD student Peruvian guy's name was Fernando. He was pretty Funny. Always brought extra Potato soup.

As we would always lament the return to the Sea of all the tasty fish caught, Fernando would call out, "Would you like some of my Potato soup?"

Tight lines!

Let's not forget that they tried to pre-empt this in the news by proposing the ban on 35' and larger vessels going more than 10 knots because that was killing the whales. This despite the fact that they have never found several whales on a beach or otherwise that showed signs of being struck by a ship! Look over here and not at the windmills!
