… I don’t wanna brag either, but there was a dozen eggs that were in my refrigerator for several years while I was recuperating… Finally threw them away… In retrospect I probably should’ve sold them….I couldn’t become wealthy instead of poor…. but I really didn’t want to poison anybody. …I really have no idea how long eggs last when refrigerated🤷🏽‍♀️

I need to make a chicken coop at my new pad in a few months. Some good ideas in this video

No 'yotes in your hood?

We lost 1/2 our flock because the roof of the pen had an opening.

Was fun while it lasted, once the Coyotes found it, game over.

Oh yeah. All over the place.

They stay out of my fenced acreage though. Not sure if it’s because of the dogs or horses though.

I could kill a slew of them a few times a year within 50 yards. But never seen one inside my fence.

We have lost one chicken in 3-4 years. And it didn’t make it inside the coup before the door closed.

When we had horses, the coyotes went around the property. Now, about once a month they're trying to dig the boulders from around the coupe.

Thanks for sharing. Someday when we build ours, it will have to have a covered top. Hawks and eagles are notorious for stealing chickens. Yours looks great though. I like the feeder under the coop so that it stays dry.

Here raccoons are the problem. Yotes are not nearly as capable.

We had chickens growing up. And it was a never ending battle with the coons. Seemed like every 6 months we would order more chick's from Murray McMurray if I recall the name correctly to replace the ones that were got.

I haven't thought of this in years. Back in the early '60's after my grand parents moved to Cherry Valley, they had chickens. I think they came with the property but grandma was an old New Mexico farm girl. I'd gone out with her many times to collect the eggs and this one time was the first that I went by myself. Collected all the eggs and handed the basket to her an she started to crack up. I was unaware that there were glass eggs placed where they lay to encourage the hens to produce. Half the eggs I collected were the glass ones. I don't know if that's still a thing or if it was a gimmick at the time? I was probably 7.
