NORRA Rally on the Cheap

I waste a shit ton of time looking for offroad vehicles I will never buy with delusions of running the NORRA Mexican 1000.

My kid has been building a jeep the last 4 years with plans to race NORRA, but I think it would be fun to buy something on the cheap, prep it and go try and run the rally.

This thing is pretty hard to beat price wise and it looks like it would pass tech with a little love.

I would take the VW route. If you didn't want to start with a Class-5 style bug, maybe look for a vintage Chenowth or Raceco. If funds permitted, you could leave it as a VW car, or put together an inexpensive and reliable Honda drivetrain using junkyard parts. It would be hella fun!!

I'm just dreaming, but I agree, there are some great VW powered options for a budget minded person who wants to run NORRA. There is a single seat Funco on FBmarketplace right now as well.

I need to figure out a way to go chase or tag along with someone as I have never been to a NORRA rally event. I've been told they are a great time. I would like to just go see what it is all about then try and do a seriously budget friendly run at it for the adventure of trying to keep junk running. LOL My kid has a completely different vision of doing NORRA than I do, he thinks I'm dumb. LOL
