Are you missing the Howard yet??
Not at all, but am starting to get anxious being boatless. I made an offer on a Shockwave 22 Deck, but the owner and I are $4k off on price. Doesn't seem like he is going to budge, so I am looking at other options and this Nordic caught my eye.

Honestly it seems the nordic would be a better long term fit. Soon the boys will be teenagers and wanting to bring friends along, more room the better

It looks like a big boat for a 27. Afraid it will be a dog with the 496....

Or go a toon for havi and a smaller v drive for lower. Wife and i are kicking the idea around to sell the formula and skeeter to get a smaller jet/v drive for lower and beater toon for havasu. SJP has the right idea, toon for the holiday weekends and bring the good stuff out when the lake/weekend settles down

Right at 2010 there was a hull adjustment by Thane I believe. Something prior to that had issues.
I’d give them a call and ask. He is super cool about answering stuff. If it’s the older pre adjusted bottom I’d skip it

A 2018 22 deck fully loaded with every option imaginable sold for $65k and had a 350 Verado on it with 9 hours.

I offered on another 2018, but with a 400r. It doesnt have all the options as the other one, but is well equipped.

Difference in cost for the motor is about $9k, so I offered him $73k. He went $80k and I am at $76k. I am not going to overpay.

that 18 w/ 400r is worth 75.
Anything over that and you are over paying IMO!

I wish I would of jumped in it and took it for a ride last weekend while I had the chance. The guy from Nautique and the matercraft salesman there that day were buddies, so I could of but we wanted to beat the traffic to river.

If it fits your needs why not just negotiate and split the difference at say $78K. A Shockwave 22 Deck with a 400R is total basassery !!!

You are trying to get a boat for Havasu and the lower river big enough for your family of 5 correct???
You have is down to a small deck boat in the $70K range....

Why not get a nice pontoon for Havasu and the family in the $50K range and then pick up a "hotrod" jet boat for the lower river in the $20K rang.... You have the room to store both boat (I have seen the garage).
Let me add.... the jet boat will be a great "learning" boat for the kids to wrench on too....

Trying to get a boat for wht you want to do is like useing a spork..... Good for most but not great for anything....

Joe already went up once.
However, I think he will cave and say 78 in the next month.
But boat prices go up the closer to DS and spring break we get

I agree with @fishing fool thst the best way to Havasu and Lower River is to have 2 boats.
That’s how we do it.
Though I disagree on the jet bote part.
a 21’ outboard deck for the lower and a 26-28 for the Havazoo.

22 deck is too small for your family of 7. Pontoon is what you should be looking at. One with a 400 with outperform the nordic your listed! And be cheaper plush fit everyone and friends. Do all the water sports and is a nice ride.

I don't want a toon. The deck will be perfect. They are a lot bigger than you think.

You keep trying to convince everyone that’s what you want. Sounds like a simple solution, go with 77,500$ ready to roll with the oldest kid and truck look at that ol Blue Shockwave and lay the offer down on him, with a already written bill of sale for 20k to save him on taxes. It’s what you’re going to buy regardless so stop kicking the other cans up and down the road.

The blue one sold. I should have jumped on that, but had some other business to handle first and the timing didn't work out. Now we are looking at another one.

This is exactly what I did. Had a 22 deck, realized very quickly it’s not big enough for Havasu (awesome river boat):

Went to a Pontoon:

And a hot rod (sadly going to sell this one):

The day I signed the purchase docs for my Ultra, someone called the office and was talking to JW.
They were interested in a 23 deck for Havasu. JW explained the 23 is not a good boat for Havasu and he would rather not sell them a boat then sell them something that was not going to work for their boating area.
@OldSchoolBoats - I think the same applies to the 22. Great boat for lower river and north of grass island, but have issues going south

Maybe the other guy was desperate or dumb and sold to low.

meet him at 78k and be ready when the season starts.

comes down to what the seller started at IMO.
Joe already went up 5, did seller come down 5?
The closer to get to 80, the closer you are to spending an additional 10-15 and building new the way you want it, just have to wait for it to be built.
Plus with Miami coming up, you never know what Merc Racing is going to do. I heard a rumor of a 350R and a 500R. The 400R IMO, was a short term motor and will be phased out over time.

Reasons to boat lower river
1- less people
2 - run for miles
3 - some new sites to see and stop at while running for miles

I get it, that’s where our river house is. Just curious if there was a specific plan.
