Am I on crack or did I see a big beaver swimming around in the marina last night? It was dark but the thing was huge, didn’t know we had beavers on Havasu.

Ok go........

We saw one in Needles last summer swim right by us. They are a lot bigger in person than on TV.

Yeah they are all over. Down river too.

Hate to think what they are munching on in the Marina?

There's one that swims (or used to anyway) past the Beachcomber west to east right about daybreak daily. I'd be inclined to think the one we've seen more recently is an offspring to the one we saw in the 90's -- don't know how long they live ? Don't know where he's coming from or going to. Saw his this past winter, but not in May while there.
One late afternoon just before sundown in the late 90's my buddy and I were standing on a beach at the Beachcomber when over my buddy's shoulder, behind him, I spot a beaver emerging from the water. He walked up on the beach and I was amazed how large he was. We both stood there staring at him, him at us, then he turned and back in the water he went.
Again back in the 90's when we could still ride our jet skis up into hidden lagoons, concealed by the reeds, up river. Those hundreds of narrow trails through the reeds were like riding single track, but I was always curious how they were formed.
One day I'm ridding up one when I came around a bend and right in front of me was a large beaver, just slowly cruising, so I quickly backed off to give him space, because there was no where for either of us to exit. I kept following him at a distance and soon the trail opened up into a huge beautiful lagoon hidden in the middle of the reeds, he dove and disappeared.
But the purpose of those trails became evident, they were beaver paths that led from lagoon to lagoon and to the river itself.
I suspect there's still a lot of beavers living in those backwater areas. Used to be several beaver dens built with sticks and branches in a few bays on the CA side, but most are gone or appear abandoned, haven't noticed any new ones.

Hell half the reason I used to go to the river was for the Beavers!

Yeah but these really big brown ones with four legs, a paddle tail and huge buck teeth, are not something you'd want your dick anywhere near

First time I came across them the wife and I were swimming around butt naked in a small cove at sunset. Since then, sunset time is kinda when we really watch for wildlife looking dinner.
.
I've seen turtles too, once in Steam Boat cove and once while idling across Thompson Bay.
.

We stayed in Bullhead last year and saw one go by the dock a couple different nights, just before sunset. Was the fist time I had ever seen one.

We used to see them cruise through California Cove down by the springs all the time.

They were huge.

we used to stay at the point in Crazy Horse. There was one that would swim from the ramp area over to the point just after sundown every night.

In the mid to late 90’s the sand bar was packed with them. They’d be on boats, people videoing them, it was crazy times. Don’t know where they all went [emoji846]

Funny this just came up . A group from trout unlimited is coming to my place on Monday to see if they can relocate some of these pesky basterds that are chewing up all my trees.
