I haven't a clue who that is, but she seems to be suffering the illusion that a rebuild triggers a property tax reset. Certainly didn't in San Diego, and ours went up very modestly because we added square footage.

Correct. Although, it is a chunk of change to rebuild....I'm not sure a 97 year old is up for that mental challenge, especially seeing as how there's a good chance he'll be dead before he moves back in....but that woman is your typical uninformed idiot.

We lived in a 5th wheel in our driveway for three years during our fire rebuild. Even at 77, if it happens again, we're outta here --- to somewhere ????

At 60 once the initial trauma waned, we bought the 5th wheel, set it up in our large driveway, built decks, an office shed for me, and turned it into an exciting three year life adventure. Now, even at 77, f*ck that shit --- been there done that, I'm not going to piss away what precious days, months, or years we have hopefully left to enjoy on another rebuild.
Even if it doesn't kill you, it will eat up your remaining life-clock
