I was shocked that the town of Needles does not have a grocery store. There are mini-marts, a Family Dollar, liquor stores etc....but no full grocery store. The closest one I can locate on a map seems to be a Safeway thats across the 95 bridge into AZ and 13 miles up river. Apparently, there was a Bashas in Needles but it closed in 2014.

Any Needles people have some favorite places you can throw my way for groceries, supplies, etc?

Thanks

There is a store called Buy Rite in Needles. Safeway in BHC isn't TOO far from your spot, probably 15 minute drive.

That must be the Safeway I saw on the map about 13 miles up.
I guess thats not bad, we're just used to the SFV where we have a gas station, 7-11 and a Food-4-Less on every corner :D

Welcome to that section of the river:)

x2 on Best Buy. I brought some home from the last trip and BBQ'd it when I got home. Be sure to grab some of their fresh salsas and ceviche as well. Great on the water snacks!

BB, is not a full market like Vons/Safeway, but they have damn near everything you'll need to get you through a weekend.

Did Bashas in Needles finally shut down for good? I was never a fan of that store.

Your next bet is Safeway or Smiths in BHC. If you need things for the house, there's a small hardware store in Needles and an ACE up the 95. Beats driving all the way to Home Depot or Lowes.

Most of the household items and toiletries you'll need can be found at Family Dollar. No need to head all the way to Target or Walmart.

There is a Best Buy Market about 2-3 miles over the bridge on AZ-95.It isn't cheap for everyday shopping but close and has the best Carne and Pollo Asada.

There is Safeway and Smiths(Ralphs) up that you mentioned. Up another 5 miles or so is Target, Kohls staples etc. up another 5 miles from that is Walmart and just past that is a Smart and Final. Just past all of these is Lowes.

Make sure you make your lists to get it all since its a bit of a hike...Congrats on the new pad! looks beautiful!

SOL....Bashas was going to close years ago, however the railroad paid their lease for a few years to help the local economy, but that ended and they closed (at least that's what I read)....I drove in one time fat dumb and happy from Vegas thinking I would do my shopping for the weekend at Bashas...not....ended up surviving on bread, wieners, crackers, cheese, peperoni, and peanut butter from Dollar Tree. Dollar Tree actually has ribeyes too, but I was afraid to venture that far out of my comfort zone. Good luck!!

Like the other guys said, Best Buy Market should do the job and closest to you. In addition to what the other guys said, fresh flour and corn tortillas (they make them oniste), it's a throwback to when markets were smaller, pretty much should have what you need.

Yeah the Best Buy is closest but much smaller assortments. And yes, great carne asada.

Oh, and great burritos from the Mobil station just AZ side of the bridge.

Ya, good breakfast burritos too.

Is that one still called Chulito's? There's another one next door to Best Busy. I think it's called Amigos, but that one kinda sucks now. It's hard to keep track of the names of those places as they've changed a few times over the past couple of years. It was easier when they're were all called Chulito's. 5-7 years ago, there was a Chulito's up off the Parkway too.

I like Fiesta Mexicana for a decent sit down dinner.

If you're like us you'll probably end up on the AZ side for fuel anyway so it really isn't that much of a hassle. As with any 2nd home whether you rent it out a lot or let it sit you'll end up going to that hardware store plus Lowes and the Depot a lot as well:D Stoked for you on the purchase

Safeway is in Fort Mohave....13 miles seems a bit far. I would say more like 7 miles. Also on the other corner is not Ralphs it is Smiths and the gas station is great there with good fuel and prices.

The old Bashas in Needles is now a .99 cent store. It does have food. Canned goods, dairy, some produce, bread, packaged deli meats, frozen foods, snacks/chips, etc. Not the selection you would find in a true grocery store but its closer. You will just need to visit to determine if it meets your needs. Safeway and Smiths at 95 and Aztec in Ft Mohave are your closest true grocery stores.

A new .99 cent store just opened in the Mohave Crossing shopping center (Target) occupying the old Staples store. There is a Best Buy carniceria/market in Bullhead as well, on Hancock.

Stock up shopping ... Wal-Mart in Bullhead ... fill-ins ... local mini's ...
Been awhile since we've been through there ... the old Basha's by the DMV was a pit ... independent now, I believe ...

If you want good pizza, River City Pizza is good. Service is a little slow, but good pizza. Also Juicy Cafe is very good!!! Do yourself a favor and drive up to Smith's like I mentioned for fuel in the boat. Way cheaper!!! DO NOT use the Arco station over the bridge past Mobil. I know of many people who have ruined motors due to bad gas! You will see that it is not a bad drive up to Safeway or Smith's.

Hey, If you want to be able to get your nails done and pick up groceries in the same shopping center, you should have bought in Havasu. :D

You're better off where you are than in Havasu. We have water that is clean and refreshing. Why do you think everyone drives out of Havasu? :)

x2. Juicy's is good. So is Wagon Wheel. I like their breakfast.

Screw Arco. That fuel is junk. I'd go there just because it was convenient for diesel. I usually head up to the Texaco off Joy/95 for fuel.

Since you're on the river, check out Riverfront Cafe for pizza. They're on the CA side about 1 mile north of the bridge. It doesn't get shallow yet (don't worry). I've called my order in from the boat a few times, pulled up to their dock and brought it back on the boat for a nice dinner float through Needles at dusk.

Yo Dennis....what's a realistic price range for a place down where u stay? Don't need water front or a resort...just a cool river pad.

Depends what you want. There's decent places to be found in WV or around that section of river for under $150k.

Fiesta Mexicana changed hands and it sux now,....

I didn't know it changed hands, but we did notice it's fallen way off. Service was poor and there was a dead cockroach on top of the booth seat the week before last. Shame too, because it's very close and was a good option for us.

Additionally, did anyone notice we lost the laundry-mat by Fiesta Mexicana? I took the boat cover down there a couple of trips ago, and it's no more... empty and for rent.

Joker, that Texico is usually 80 cents higher than everybody else. Just drive another mile or so and hit up Safeway or Smiths for gas.

That ARCO almost F'd my brand new motor up a few years ago, thankfully the water separator worked and I checked it quick, full within 20 minutes, sucked that fuel out and put it into my truck, F it it was a lease. Like Mike said, head up to the Smiths, food and gas, at the Avi bridge.

So interestingly enough I think the gas in bhc is fucking me up. I used the circle k on 95 across from fastrip. Where should I fuel. Went to stick w a good brand this time

Not sure how far up in Bullhead you are, but I use the fuel at Smith's. i have been running their gas in my Teague 800 since they opened. Before that I would go up to the Chevron at the bottom of the parkway where the Target Center is.

Also the Texaco others are talking about used to be ridiculously priced. They are under new ownership and the prices have come down for gas. Still more than Smith's, but MUCH BETTER than in the past. I get my diesel there as it is only 5 cents more and they have the commercial high pressure pumps so it fills up QUICK!.

Thank u. I'm in sunridge estates on McCormick. I don't care about the drive. Last trip boat wasn't firing right up and someone said there's a good chance it's gas or vapor lock

I always fill up at the Circle K by our house on the parkway, no issues.
