145 gallons per hour with 4 Yami 425's. Wonder what it is with 4 625's or 5 Merc's.

Yes

I love the classic lines - some of the newer CCs like Mystic and Sunsation look like beached whales to me.

This has a great look to go with all the lux / versitility

Jesus, a 54' Bertram gets better economy than that hole in the water --- granted, they won't run 57 MPH, but will go places I'd never take that one.

The Bertram wont cruise at 30 mph either but definitely agree with you on durability.

well there's beut of a 1998 54' Bert for sale cruise at 29 knots and 34 Kn tops --- only 2700 HP :p
When you're going that big, I'm just partial to the real deal, one I can take from CA to the Bahamas !!
But that's just me, besides I can afford the 1998, I can't afford this Scout that's for damn sure :eek::eek:

Aren't these Scouts built by some of the guys that started Boston Whaler?

I love a nice Bert but I'm not so sure they would beat the pants off of this boat from a quality or seakeeping ability - I would think they are pretty comparable quality build wise?

I wonder how different the hull shapes are - the Scout seems to have a pretty sharp entry and deep V.

Open boat vs closed boat. This one does have more of a cockpit than most but you're still exposed to the elements.

By seakeeping, you mean when you take a wave of green water over the bow and the Scout sinks in about 6 seconds ?

I'm just messing around because in no manner can you compare them, two entirely different boats for entirely different purposes.
I like to fish much more than party with 20 friends, I'd prefer a boat I could spend an entire summer on comfortably, versus a long weekend.
One I wouldn't be in any hurry to run in, because I'd just as soon stay out.
Bert weighs over 75,000 lbs, the Scout just over 31,000 lbs, big Cats @ 2700 HP versus 4 Yamahas at perhaps 1400.
But then I don't have any where close to the coin one of these super CC's costs to even consider the luxury. Obviously somebody does ;)
What I do find rather amazing is, the cost of a new Bert I bet isn't much more than one of these CC's --- I can afford neither new :(
But then if I could afford new, I'd be eyeballing the big Vikings, damn they're pretty.

It looked like it had five Yamaha’s to me, maybe those are specs for the low-end model. :D

I really like the new Hatteras GT70 3800 horsepower stock and 5200 horsepower as an option and sexy as hell.

I was gonna say the GT70 is the way to go if money is no option. I think it’s 1.2 million with the big engines?

You mean $ 1.2 million MORE with the big engines  Over $ 4Mil, but they figure optioned out closer to $ 6.5 Mil ---- but holy shit, that's like fishing from your house and a damn fine looking one at that :) That Scout from the little I can find starts at $ 2 Mil, I'm guessing that's with the 5 - 425 HP Yamahas. So maybe $ 3 Mil with options ?
I'll be dead before I can even afford a used one, either one LOL :p

I knew the 1.2 played somewhere lol. I remember doing the math of the fuel burn at WOT and my jaw hitting the floor at the same time

I think the .2 MPG was with the small engines, so with the big mills maybe two football fields per gallon :eek::eek:

If we are spending RD's money on a fishing boat...

Interesting how 10 years ago most of these yacht / sports fisher manufacturers were struggling to keep their doors open and many didn't or got gobbled up.
Now even the small shops are pumping out these multi-million dollar mega-yachts and million + dollar CCs with orders backed up for years.
Wonder what percentage are being shipped abroad ?
Even the used ocean boat market supply is dwindling.
Half considering going back to big blue I've been watching the used 40 foot range convertibles (Sedan Bridge), with comfort (What the wife wants) and fishing capability for me and my son out here on the west coast. By mid-summer prices had escalated and supply limited so even the ones requiring a lot of TLC were being snatched up.
I'll be curious to see what this market does over the winter.

Brunswick sold hatteras off. My next boat will be Catalina capable but small enough for runs up river.

We did that starting in the late 70's with a 19' Cuddy cabin, San Diego to Catalina, or a week on Lake Powell. Then to 25', with a small step up to a bridge, better cabin, better ocean, great for a weekend or a week on Powell. Then to a 30' 12' beam Sea Ray in a slip, you see what's happening here, LOL
Then finally to a twin diesel 35' Egg Harbor sports fisher and now we were even more committed to the big blue, but spent almost every weekend on it, often just harbor cruising or fishing off La Jolla in the inflatable.
But sure enjoyed the week long Catalina vacations. So the older we got, the more comfort we enjoyed !!! After almost 20 years of this evolution we decided to change the entire program.
Sold it all, relocated recreational to Havasu, that was 24 years ago. No longer enjoying summer temps like we used to (Enjoy or tolerate ?) and we live 20 minutes from the harbor which kinda beats 4.5 hours to the lake.
Time for a change again, but now much older, seriously dig creature comforts and as soon as my wife retires, we can spend as much time onboard as we desire.
One harsh reality is, the cost of owning, slipping, fueling and maintaining a large blue water boat is friggin expensive, seems much more so than 20+ years ago.
It's not the price of the boat that scares me nearly as much as the reality of the cost of ownership. I don't want to become one of those, like 75% of the boats in the bay, that are essentially floating condos and rarely move.
So I sit here pricing big comfy boats, convincing myself we can do this, only to get yanked back to reality and back to reading 2Forcefulls Motorhome tips and tricks on RDP :D:D
On the other hand, fall, winter and spring in Havasu is very nice
Good luck with your life choices !!!!

I have a buddy with a sea ray 400. Beautiful boat but yeah the cost of ownership is insane. They have started chartering to help with the cost. If I had my way we would be living on a floating condo, I would have a schiada 24 worked over by alexi and a nice cc for day trips. The wife has different priorities and then there's the damn dream killers that society calls children lol.
