1st post and greetings to all... Out in Vegas and been reading through alot of threads recently and thought I'd join up to contribute and learn more about V-drives. Currently have an 07' SeaRay 185 w/rollbars that we use out at Mead at least once or twice a week.
I'm in the market to sell the Ray and looking to get into a Schiada, although I do see alot of interesting Spectras, Carreras & Howards that look really promising as well.
My only experience driving is with I/O, can someone enlighten me as to the major differences possibly switching over to V-drive would be? I'd like to learn as much as possible and if someone could point me in the right direction that'd be great! Thanks and I'll throw up a few pictures of our current ride.

Are you looking to buy new or used?

If your looking used and just at that "genre" of boat.. There are some sick deals out there right now. Here are 2 custom cruisers that I think are pretty nice for the price. You should know with a v-drive your going to give up a lot of interior room, and they are slower for given HP then an I/O.. But on the flipside they turn better, ride smoother etc..

Welcome to the boards. Don't know much about V-Drives...very rare in my neck of the woods. You've come to the right place to get some info on them.

Top O' the morning to ya.

snake321 passes along his best regards, as well. He'd welcome you in person but, at the moment, he's on his garage roof with a shillelagh and a creamed coffee muttering something about "those bloody British bastards."

What happened to Sean O'Sullivan?

Is this some sort of drive by introduction? We shouldn't have to put up with that sort of bullshit. :swear

Thanks to the welcoming committee :champagne: I haven't fully decided to go V-drive but I've definitely decided to go to more of the day cruiser style. I'd really like the 22' Schiada D.C. but only time will tell, gotta sell the Ray first. Thanks for the Howard links, the 1st one looks great!!! A couple more of our recent boating pics out at Mead...

Anybody recognize this boat? My friend's grandfather has been running this down out at Havasu for years and he's the one who's trying to convince me to go V-drive.

Here's a Campbell 24, I guess there are some differences in the deck slope...

I wonder if half the Campbells I've been seeing all this time on the river have been Spectras? :p

Campbells have a little different bow, and usually have windows in the front of them.

From those photos how does he comment on the boat and not the girls. :grumble:

LOL.. I guess your right, I am getting old. :bash:

Good question.

Probably because old school boats turn me on in ways that girls no longer can. If maintained, boats don't lose their beauty with age. Even if treated right, boats won't break your heart. Boats don't lie. Boats don't expect you to keep them satisfied, boats exist for our satisfaction. While boats traditionally have proven to be a man's best friend, a girl, in time, will prove to be your worst enemy.

I love women sexually. But in almost every other way...I love boats more.
