New Fire Boat to Serve Lake Havasu and the Colorado River
Yesterday new Boat 18 (BT18) was placed in service in Lake Havasu Landing. The new 28-foot Lake Assault Boats boat was delivered and placed in service on Thursday, May 27th. The all-risk platform will serve Lake Havasu and the Colorado River area of San Bernardino County.
The new boat will allow San Bernardino County Firefighters-Paramedics to quickly respond to fires, watercraft emergencies and medical emergencies on Lake Havasu or the Colorado River. Due to the remoteness of these areas, it is frequently quicker to respond via boat, rather than by road.
BT18 Specifications & Information:
-2020 28-foot Lake Assault Hull
-Twin 300HP Outboard Motors
-1500 Gallons per Minute (GPM) Fire Pump
-Skyhook Digital Anchor System
- Dive Ramp
-GPS, SONAR and iPad MDC System
-Wireless Headset System
-Digital 800, VHF & Marine Radios
-Paramedic Gear
-LED Light Package
-FLIR (forward looking infrared video camera)
BT18 is one of four SBCoFD Lake Assault Fire Boats we staff and the second in the Colorado River area. BT18 joins BT32 which is docked in Park Moabi, near Needles. Firefighters at our boat stations are specially trained on boat operations, water rescue practices and shipboard firefighting.
If you are on Lake Havasu and see BT18 or BT32 give our folks a wave. Thanks to our amazing shop personnel for a quick up-fitting and delivery prior to the Memorial Day weekend.
