My buddy and I went up to Aztec, NM today to pick up his brand new 2025 Z71 Tahoe with a 6.2 and all the options besides rear screens.

Left here at 3AM this morning and got back at 8:45 PM tonight.

He was trading in his 2021 Tesla Model Y Dual Motor with 49,000 miles so we had to stop a few times for superchargers along the way. On the way there we took the I-17 North to Flagstaff where we arrived near the mall at about 4:40AM and thus had to wait about 20 minutes for the McDonalds to open up so we could get some McMuffins for breakfast. After that we then had to stop nearby to supercharge for about 25 minutes.

As you know if you’ve towed to Lake Powell from Flagstaff, It was a bumpy ride on the way up the 89 where we turned East on the 160 through Tuba City and the Navajo Indian Reservation. We stopped again in Kayenta, AZ for some more supercharging and then continued all the way to Hi-Country Chevrolet in Aztec, NM.

He saved about an extra $4,000 over what he would’ve paid in the valley, plus it was the only white on Black 2025 Z71 Tahoe with every option that he cared about within 500 miles of Phoenix.

On the way back we went south out of Farmington, NM via the 371 to catch the 40 Westbound out through Gallop, NM.

The ride coming back was much, much smoother in the Tahoe compared to that model Y that felt like you were on a skateboard with no suspension.

We stopped out by the meteor crater to grab a little bit of fuel and take a pee break and then stopped again to fill up at the Sam’s Club in Flagstaff. We were hungry for Mexican so we stopped at Salsa Brava in Flagstaff for dinner and then made it all the way back down right after that.

The Burger King, where the superchargers are in Kayenta, has a really cool Code Talkers exhibit inside as dumb as that sounds, and when we were in Flagstaff, there was a group of people protesting the deportations on Milton near downtown. It looked to me to be mostly NAU students waving Mexican flags my hard to tell as you’re driving by at night.

Overall, the trip was fun and fairly quick with no issues to speak of, and he loves the Tahoe.
