Finally got the new bimini. The old one rattled everywhere and really didn't offer much protection from anything given it's height. This is actually lower than the old one and built with heavy gauge stainless tube. On the old one the frame would flex and bend at 35mph... Haven't tested this one yet but if the weight of the thing means anything I'm not worried about it.

A-1 took the time to replace all the bimini deck hardware with new stainless and through bolted everything. He also modified my cover to accomodate the new position of the bimini. Overall the bimini is a bit longer, and moved forward 18" from the old mounting position (factory install location had the bimini covering the entire engine hatch). Went with grey mesh down the middle for a bit of heat relief when parked. We'll be testing it out in Havasu shortly;)

Where is A1? I'm probably gonna have to start shopping around for a new bimini.

T&Y,

Do you have two boats?

I seem to recall you were here for something in the last couple months. Boat cover maybe?

Im getting old, maybe it was someone else.

Lou did my boat cover last year about this time. Found him after getting the run around at another local well known shop.

how does your bimini do under way? I kinda don't like how your front straps go straight down. I can see why they do because of the doors but why not mount the straps fwd of the doors? seems like a lot of stress right there.

We will find out in a couple days. If it's an issue I'm sure Lou will correct it. I don't have them cranked down at the moment, but when they are it tightens up nice.

I told him when I dropped it off that we use the crap out of those doors... kids seem to think they are diving platforms when open.

Looks good.

I checked them out when my Bimini got stolen but seeing his shop as a messy disaster, and his prices, I couldn't go there.

Went to custom canvas and they did a great job on mine.

The phrase "can't judge a book by its cover" is true.

Your Bimini looks good.

A-1 did the front bimini extension on my boat and did a great job. Matched the canvas and hardware. Except for one failed crimp that he quickly repaired I've been a satisfied customer.

Lou's got a lot going on in that yard and shop. Running multiple jobs on various things at the same time. Might not be the cleanest shop, but the cover he made for my FastCat is better than than the cover Custom Canvas made for my Carrera by far. The fit, added supports, extra backing, and straps were a huge improvment over my Carrera Cover. Don't get me wrong, Custom Canvas makes quality stuff, but I think Lou has them beat on craftsmanship and finished product at this point. Both good choices, but I know where I'll be going for all my future work.
