I got a phone call from a neighbor down the street saying some one parked a boat up against my house. So I get down there tonight and sure enough there is some piece of crap with blown out tires parked on my side yard. After doing some searching turns out next door neighbor is short selling his house. Don't know if the boat was his or renters but sure enough there is a picture of it in his back yard on Zillow. House is empty now. Plan on dragging it back over in the morning with a note. I guess let the new owners deal with it? Pissed off and trying not to let it ruin my weekend.

^^^ This is what I would do.

Call the police and say that someone abandoned it in your yard. I wouldn't say that you have done your research even. Let them have it towed and if nobody claims it, they can have it.

Spot on. If your tell the popo that you know where it belongs then they will say you have a civil matter and walk away.

Thanks we will see how it plays out. Also found my trash cans in his yard. Hopefully new home owner is a lot cooler. Renters suck

Somenone abandoned a car at my shop a couple years back and the police said I had to deal with it and to call a tow truck on my nickel to get it out of there. So, I opened the door, took it out of gear, released the brake, and then pushed it into the middle of the street. I then told the cops it was "their" problem. A tow truck showed up about ten minutes later and lets just say it wasn't on my nickel.

You need to call the local tow company and ask them to do a private property impound. You don't have to pay for that in california and I'm 95 percent sure you don't have to in Arizona either. They will come out have you sign a form that they fill out and they will be on their way. When it get to their yard they will run a lean on it and the last registered owner is on the hook for the costs. They wi either go get it or let the tow company auction it off.

No story is necessary. No lying required. No cops needed. Just you and the tow company. Once the tow company has it they will call it in to the police saying they just did a PPI at xyz douche bag move street and give them the vin/hin of the boat and trailer. They do that so if/when the guy comes and reports it stolen the cops will be like... no sir your shit is at the tow yard cause you are an idiot.

A renter of mine left their piece of shit 90's Audi at my house. Called the cops didn't tell them it was a former tenant thinking this way they'd remove it. Nope told me to call a tow company, like mentioned here. Cops did check if the car was stolen. Other property was the it dump spot for stolen cars. Those the police came checked if stolen and if it was waited for a tow truck. Both in Washington State. I wasn't charged for the Audi.

Call Steve's Towing in LHC. They pick up abandoned vehicles for free. That's what they told me on the phone when I called in an abandoned car.

My property is 280 acres and people dump stolen cars on it all the time. Only thing cops will do is check if its stolen and then they take it off your hands. If not stolen you call for a tow and they take it no charge.

McRib has given you the straight scoop on California law. If it applies to where your place is do it that way. Clean and done, I'd be on it in the am if I were you. What a B.S. move by whomever parked it there.
File it away, you owe him one.
If you are in Az call the local tow shop and find out what their policy/procedure is on stuff like this. The PPI laws in this state have changed a bunch over the past 10 years. It used to be a real pain in the ass to do this kind of stuff.

Last Wednesday I notice a white Lincoln TC parked next to my building on the service road, at the time 2 UPD officers were with the vehicle. I get to my shop Thursday morning and now the car is in my parking lot. I call UPD and ask if they know anything about this car, the lady replies that they made contact with the car on the previous day but the tags were current so they just left it. I explained that the ignition was punched and a screw driver was being used to apparently start the car, she said it's not stolen and I would have to get it towed. I called Martinez Towing and they picked it up at no cost to me. Turns out the car was a GTA. LOL

Turns out it pays not to be a dick. I was so pissed the night before I wanted to block the front door with the p.o.s. boat and leave a nasty note Next day I meet the new home owner who is really cool and said he will have it towed away for me. He knew the old owner was a dick by the way he trashed house. All is good and have a pretty cool neighbor now.
