I get it I would do the same thing if I was in there financial shoes but God Damn we don’t need anymore traffic up on that part of the river! We have Avi to the North and all the river lice, we got all the rock bars to the south and the already heavy needles traffic and now this. Oh well I guess you can’t stop progress just have to figure out how to adapt. Hmmmm maybe sell the river place and buy a houseboat on Powell just about the same drive for us, it’s a thought.

I was thinking the same thing about the river traffic. Hopefully it doesn't get blown out like another Pirates / Moabi. Speaking of that...wasn't RD saying there was a 2nd Pirates Cove going in further up river towards Laughlin?? Never heard anything more about it, and can't find anything on it

Not sure but they have been dredging Laughlin Marina/Backbay for the last few months.

Golden Shores, Topock...whatever they call it...seen the uppers called one and the lowers called the other.
I like it. Not as much traffic at night as our last place, less crowded. I'm a youngish grumpy old man!

This project will ruin the river up in that area. Traffic on that part of the river is not a good thing.

Doesn't seem like they are adding any slips. Just replacing what was there. I'm sure a lot of the slips will be used by people staying in the park. With parking limited I don't see this "ruining" the river. Looks like they're just adding some upgrades, making repairs and putting in a place to eat. Cool! I look forward to checking it out.

The property is in deed in need of some renovation I just think a bar and restaurant up there is just going to congest the best part of the river.

Here, let me help...

"This area of the river can be extremely hazardous to those using ballast tanks or sacks, some (but not all;)) V-drives, and boats generally designed for offshore purposes. In addition, the swamp like weeds are a hazard to those on personal watercraft, as is the limited population of piranha now living north of Jack Smith, but south of the Avi."

Think that will help?

Someone should make a movie about the place and the piranha so everyone is aware it's closed

Just called about my Memorial weekend reservations, and asked about status on marina. The launch ramp was just poured, the docks are going in, and the lagoon is currently being dredged.

Hope they widened the entrance off the river. On a windy day it was like threading a needle.

I always pull in a little fast and against the current. If you go too slow when turning in the current gets the ass end of the boat while the nose is in still water....things go sideways form there lol

I was there last weekend and noticed they were pouring concrete in the marina area. And had much of the material in the marine removed or ready to be dredged!

Haha that’s right!! You have to throttle it in there. Last time I went through there you had to go right in the middle or the prop would hit so no way 2 boats could pass at the same time.

Lol this is true! I will say though....I have better luck with service at pirates than I do at Topock. Topock usually forgets my food! I’m cursed

I have the opposite. Topock usually does better on the food but the beers are slow / warm. We’ve pulled up to Pirates twice 15-20mins before closing and they won’t take an order.
Not sure what these places can do long term. It’s tough to find quality 20-30 yr olds to work hard in So Cal. Gotta be brutal in the middle of the retirement / vacation land. They need employee bunk housing or something to attract a seasonal work force.

I agree topock usually does way better on the food ,a vodka and lemonade at pirates is undrinkable, taste like Ass water ,I swear you'll puke from it ,it's that bad. I don't think they clean the dispensers

This is not true and I will verify it this weekend with Nakoshima. My race partner and I are putting a model boat race in that area this weekend. I will see them and report back to you guys I wouldn’t get to excited about.

This came from Art directly a few weeks back. Said a bar and paddle board rental facility.

That would be interesting. The paddle board should do ok but I’m not sure about a bar. I think it would take quite a substantial amount of money to make something legal back there.

Can you ask them if the will ever go back to offering monthly rates in the RV park again? I was so bummed last year when they stopped that practice.

I bet they will again. You should try again this year. Last year they seemed to think they would have the spots full all the time and I didn’t see that happen so I could see them doing it again. We did that for 2 summers on the launch ramp sites, loved it.

So cabins on the nice beach side. That is going to cause issues with folks thinking they can reserve spots on the beach in front of those cabins. Really starting to ruin what was a good place
