My 9 year old HP is dying....getting slow and noisy. What is the recommended brand to go to????? NOT APPLE I want 17" screen, good speed, good storage space, usb ports etc...............not a gaming PC.....thoughts ????? HP? Dell? in the $1000 range

You can see in the first 5 responces, that's like asking the age old question....chevy or ford.😄
I've been using dell for decades but for a home use application you probably(my .02cents) will be happy with just about any brand that meets your needs.

You could get a nice off lease refurb PC for pennies and be ahead of the game. We like these Dell minis. Then splurge on a nicer screen. They are cheap also these days, Gramps.

Dell XPS they have a 16” display though but thin bezels.

HP has a nice model too, it is/was the Spectre.

Lenovo ThinkPad, used to be IBM ThinkPad. Still pretty sturdy.

Get something cheap refurb WIN10, Lenovo aren't powerhouses but reliable
