I got 2k worth of Joel’s meat that I am getting very worried about.

Does anyone in north county have something I could rent? All local stores and rentals are gone.

They are a Generac Dealer, and usually have portables in stock, but they also install whole house back up systems.

Head to the gas station and grab 20 pounders and if you don’t got a cooler, use a trash can with new trash bags.

I’d also look at welders and towable construction light plant rentals. Both are generators.

Have looked at FB marketplace(I picked up a Honda 2000 for $500 a few years ago)or Craigslist. Not a bad idea to invest in one as this won’t be the last blackout. Our 24k whole house gennie ran yesterday from 3am until this morning 2am. Well worth the investment.

I have an extra predator 3500 inverter that I’m not using.. you’d need to put a battery in it and probably clean out the fuel system.. but 200.00 and I can bring it to Carlsbad when I get back from
Mex..

How old are the freezers. New ones are pretty energy efficient. Get a inverter and run it off a cars battery. Start the car every hour or so. If stuff is frozen solid and the door stays cold it wont take much to keep frozen. In my garage freezer i keep a wireless thermometer with a base station on the kitchen fridge. Put the sensor on the top shelf. I also keep jugs of frozen water on the top shelf .

You can also put blankets on the top and upper sides to help insulate.

My garage freezer has a fan to circulate the air. The fan went out one time but the freezer still ran. The bottom half stayed frozen the top shelf was thawed. Thus if i have extra space i freeze jugs of water or small drinking water bottles. Now is not the time to put water in to freeze but you could get bags of ice.

I have also had a breaker trip and found the solid meat on the lower racks stayed frozen longer than stuff higher up. I keep all my meat on the lower shelves and veggies, pizzas etc up high.

I did find my newer freezer and refrigerator drew about 300 w and started on a small invertor that had a peak of 700 w. The old freezer took a much larger invertor at least 1500w that had a higher peak. When running it was around 800w or nearly 3 times the power of brand newer frig/freezer.

One thing about generators is that they may not be clean power. The invertor type are. Many of the new refrigerators require clean power to prevent damage to the electronic controls

It’s all based on Model Year produced and only portables gens. Stationary, Home Stand Bys are not affected.
- Model Year, 2023 and previous CARB can be sold until out of stock.
- Model Year 2024, 2025 and 2026 CARB can be purchased and sold until 1/1/2027. But, if inventory is still existing it can be sold through. CARB does not want mfrs to stock pile.
2027 Model Yr and beyond - No emission.

Not to totally derail the conversation, but I have had a Harbor Freight 3500 that has a million hours on it and has spent 99% of its life in the dirt breathing dirt and sand. Its been an excellent genny for camping, however, the new Predataor 5K, looks pretty sweet too. I might look into an upgrade once the 3500 dies.

My power just turned back on. Thank goodness. Definitely buying a generator soon. Sad thing is I had so many clients wanting to sell me perfect generators and I never took them up on it. My fault!

I’m looking for a water cooled diesel 5kw or a 7500kw inverter

I have the hospital quiet muffler installed now so the whole thing is pretty quiet.
