So, last week we are at the nautical for about 5 days. A couple months ago I try to reserve a cove spot and am told they are all sold out for that time period. Ok, my fault I waited too long to call. I double check when we arrive and am told still sold out. The not to be named manager everyone here knows, tells my wife park anywhere else that is not reserved with the signage and we will be fine. Specifically says we are fine in the area that they used to say was only for 2hr bar patron parking only.

So I grab the spot next to the last reserved spot near the bar. I head out for a little while, I leave my spike in the ground. I return and find they installed another reserved sign and the security guard is waiting for me. He says to move my shit, while I was gone they sold the spot!!!!

I love they location but these guys need to hire someone with a background in hospitality management. They would be sunk if they relied on their customer service skills to stay in business.

Used to stop at the Turtle for a drink towards the end of the boating day while the kids played in the water park.

Now we dropped the kids off and then float in the bay when the kids are in the water park.

I must have missed something - I stay at the nautical all the time and never paid an extra fee to leave my boat on the beach. When I check in they give me a band to put on the boat that shows I'm staying there and the date I leave.

Is this fee new?

Fee is in the cove, if you park between the water park and the boat rentals then overnight parking is still free.

I like it personally ... when I stay there and boat all day and come in at sunset I know my spot will be there .... I dont have to scramble for another place or yank my boat out of the water . I know the docks are free to park at for the bar and some of the beach right up next to the bar is free too ....

I agree, I don't mind paying for a good product and good customer service. Coming in and knowing my spot is there because it's mine and i paid for it is great. But for some reason this place and it's rules/policies always seem to be in state of flux. This might sound petty but they all add up to perceived chaos, one day it's no drinks or smokes in the pool but the next it is fine. One day you have to get pool towels from the front desk the next there is a towel girl, and boy oh will you catch hell if you don't walk them back to have your name crossed off.

I really try to love this place because it is such a great location but every time we go there are just more dumb things going on that make me shake my head.

I agree with the saving spots idea- they should have done it years ago.

Where it goes south is actually charging hotel guests for it. I've boated on both coasts, and The Nautical is the one place that seems to want to drive people away instead of using ther amenities to draw people in. Most places use a beach as lure to stay and spend money, but The Nautical uses it to leave a bad taste in guests mouth.

Even last night, they charged $5 to park in their lot in case someone wanted to see the fireworks (that they didn't pay for...lol). When I explained we were just there to eat, they said "too bad".

Why would I pay to park to eat there? They just don't get it.

We stayed here last year, right before they started charging for a beach spot in the Lagoon. You know the spots you have to fight for, the people that set up camp but are never there, there holding spots for their friends that aren?t showing up until the weekend, yea those spots.
When we checked in it was like $199.00 a night (for the old units) plus a $30.00 Resort Fee (for using the new pool that wasn?t completed yet, it had water in it but the Bar was still being completed) Hotel Tax Fee, Fee fee fee fee, me to death, I told the lady at the Front Desk "we'll just swim in the lake, we're gone all day anyway" she offered no response. The food at the Turtle and Restaurant is so bad; we didn't eat there anymore after the first day. Which is too bad because that?s why we were staying there for the Convinces of food and beverage?
The new management that took it over last year just doesn?t get it, they need to back to school, I do understand that finding quality employees in this environment/area is difficult, but you still have to train them.
We won?t be back.
