I am in the process of planning a trip to Nashville for my wifes Bday at the end of March. We have a large group of people flying out to hang out and celebrate. We have never been before, and looking for any input on things to do and see aside from drinking and bar hoping.

Also any recommendations on cool restaurants to check out that might be able to accommodate a large party?

Sounded dumb to me when it was proposed but the JD tour is really cool. get a van/driver, it is a solid hour drive but thru beautiful country

Of course evenings/nights bouncing around lower Broadway bars. great music everywhere

A walk to the Gutch for some good restruants.

in all honesty, the dining experiences have been lacking for me in Nashville....

All the bars etc. have decent bar food but not fine dining by a long shot
We did the Johnny Cash museum...worth $20 for an hour or so walk thru
The XM Highway with Buzz Friday happy hour "show" at Margaritaville is not worth the effort...

Enjoy

JD tour is a must.
Wife and I are going mid April for 5 days to visit family and staying downtown to bar hop, eat, drink and listen to some good live music.
Can't wait to go ack again.

Look up what concerts are in town. Especially The Ryman If you've never been of course everyone wants to see Lower Broadway. It's a madhouse, but its fun. My girlfriend lives there, when she goes out with friends, they always to The Gulch

+1 for the Jack Daniels distillery, worth the drive for sure....there are plenty of different music museums like Johnny Cash, Country Music Hall of Fame, etc....if you were into the Dukes of Hazard, Cooters Nashville is a must stop, lots of memorabilia and is actually ran by Cooter himself, well the actor that played him anyway...

You’re in for a wild ride. That place wrecks me every time I leave. Some of the best times I’ve had is in Nashville.

If you’re into restaurants I’d skip downtown. I have friends that live there and we always end up at the local spots that are awesome but damned if I could remember them.

The music is awesome. If you don’t like the band on the first floor you walk up to the second floor. If the second isn’t your thing you go to the third and eventually the roof top. Prep your liver good before you go lol

Monell's for breakfast. Go hungry. They are in Germantown.
It will be one of the most memorable meals of your life.

You sit a communal picnic table and endless trays and platters of food come out. Smoked Sausage, Bacon, Biscuits and Gravy, Country Ham, Fried Apples, Pancakes, Scrambled Eggs, Hash Browns, Cheese Grits, Skillet Fried Chicken, Corn Pudding, Cinnamon cakes... and you don't just choose a couple, you get ALL of them. Piled up and passed around. The restaurant is in an old house not some fancy new building.

As corny as it sounds the tractor tours around the downtown area are pretty fun if you want to do touristy shit. They have a full bar and DJ on board and let me tell you it gets wild. Plus you get to do it while seeing downtown.

I just went through my phone pics and videos and nothing is PG enough to post hahaha. The girls loved it.

We used these guys...

Going back the weekend before Valentines with the family to visit my oldest. 3rd time in the last 18 mos. Sorry no help on the out of town spots. We usually hit Broadway from lunch to 3ish, breather at hotel and then back for the evening.
My advice is to get a room close to Broadway. We’ve been doing the Hilton. Trying the Moxy this time around. The extra money is worth it IMO.

Stupid question is there any where (website) to find out who is playing or maybe who might be making a guest appearance somewhere?

I really enjoy Honky Tonk’s so I loved hitting the different bars and Lower Broadway is a blast. Like said already, if you don’t like the band playing, go up another floor.

As far as food goes, Hattie B’s is a must if you like chicken. That being said, Nashville isn’t known for its food.

I’ve been twice and it’s tons of fun

I recommend Skull’s Rainbow Room in Printer’s Alley for dinner. It was a great little classy steakhouse spot with good food. Definitely book in advance. Hampton Social was pretty good also but completely different “influencer” vibe. Martins BBQ was good. Hattie B’s Hot Chicken is a must. Biscuit Love in the Gulch for breakfast. “Tavern” in Music Row on Broadway for brunch.

Kid Rocks was a great bar. Second Fiddle is a fun little divey spot on Broadway next to Tootsies.

We caught a show at the Opry that was pretty cool. Dustin Lynch played a few songs but I can’t emphasize enough that it is not a concert so much as a live radio/ variety show. There was a mall right next to it that had a

What’s your age group? Grand ole opry of course. Santa’s pub. Not sure of the name but some ‘district’ for an afternoon stroll(gulch maybe?) Acme feed n seed. Hattie b’s hot chicken. Everyone loves peg legged porker bbq but the gf and I both got sick after having lunch there. We hit the bigger more popular stuff during the day and the small dive bars at night. Early 30s couple.

I did the JD tour as well. It's worth checking out for sure. We did the tour with a tasting at the end which was hilarious. I love watching the faces of non whiskey drinkers drinking warm whiskey!! I'm sure you'll end up downtown and our favorite bar was the redneck Rivera owned by Big and Rich. The rest of the time we spent riding Harley's all over the state. Just driving around there is a site to see!

Go take a spin on the Mountain Coaster in Pigeon Forge. As far as Broadway is concerned, hit as many bars as you can, you'll find something you like at one of them. For late night/early, soak up the alcohol food, grab a seat at the Sun Diner.

The JD tour was great. If you do the tasting tour you can pick between their regular whiskeys or their flavored/sweetened whiskeys as far as what you taste.
A really cool evening we did was called the "listening room" where 3-4 up and coming writers/musicians are on stage collaborating and playing music.

Here is the list I compiled (mostly from old threads here on RDP) and followed for the most part when we went back in November. We stayed at the Thompson in the Gulch, it was nice enough and the staff were on it. Rooftop bar turns into a nightclub at night so if you are over 25, go early and leave before the music cranks. We rented a car which made it really easy to get around. We drove to the JD tour, cruised around Franklin, the lakes mentioned below, etc.

Food
Hattie B’s – Southern chicken
The Southern Steak and Oyster (wasn't great)
Biscuit Love in the Gulch – Great breakfast, long line but it moved quick...chronic bacon highly recommended
Martin’s BBQ
Monell's - For breakfast
Peg Leg Porker - BBQ

Sights
Jack Daniels distillery tour
Old Hickory Lake – Rent a boat
Radnor Lake – 3 mile hike around the lake
Downtown Franklin
Percy Priest Lake – Live music Thur-Sat
Anything on broadway, can't go wrong... bounce around to music you like
Arrington Winery
