Thinking about getting a nanny cam because my wife is going back to work. They made her an offer we can't refuse - full salary for 2 days work per week. Problem is she flies out of town for work & we're a bit paraniod about a nanny for our 14 month. The nanny will be coming to our house during the day. Anybody with experience on this?

What I'd like is a wireless set-up with 3 cameras a dvr recorder & hopefully streaming capability so she can check in on him from her computer during the day. Not sure if there's anything out there like that??

Thanks for the help.

After the crap I saw on the news the other day, you gotta do something. You just never know. What I do know is that I would love to beat anyone's ass that hurts a kid.:grumble:

I think MohaveVice might be able to help. He's a PI and I think does remote monitoring, maybe he'll know what you need.

4 camera w/DVR and remote access and camera pwr supply(in the area of $1300) for a good cheap one (GE)

And I would be up front with the nanny and tell her I have cameras all over because I like to watch my stuff. (it keep them on the up and up) It weeds out the not so good one

Wireless means changing batt.:thumbsdown
running wires is where all the work is
singles story... easy just have to get in the attic
2 story harder but do able

Heres a better idea...

Get someone from a referal! We had a nanny when my kids were little. She came highly recomended and we were lucky to get her. Well worth the money, house was always clean, and my kids absolutely loved her.

Don't look for a nanny on Craigs list!! Ask around the neighborhood for someone local and highly recomended. A good one will NOT be cheap.

We had a nanny for daughter when she was 6mo-3yr. She is now 9yr. Our nanny still takes her for the weekend and now I don't have to pay:D We treated her live family and it worked out for us.
Good Luck
Referal is the best way to go

Just pick up a little mexican lady. Cheap labor and they are usually great with taking care of kids. My buddy had a little mexican nany when were growing up. I used to like to go to his house just to grub her food

:thumbsup:thumbsup

We also had a nanny for over a year when our daughter was a year old. Referral was key. Only reason we went away from it was cost.

Thanks Guys.

I was thinking about 1k, so that's not too far off. I'm hoping for wireless to the DVR with a plug in power source. I'm thinking of putting the cameras in the AC vents, drill a hole & tie the power into electrical switches below.

My wife is already going through resumes, doing background checks & we're interviewing 2 ladies this week.

We're going to install them hidden, but I'm going to tell her about them. My intent isn't to catch someone, it's to prevent it in the first place - so I'll be upfront with her. The reason is really two fold, my wife is super attached to the little guy, it's going to be really hard for her to be away 1 night a week. This way she can keep up with him a bit more & hopefully not have so much anxiety about it.

Thanks for the help :thumbsup.
