This is my son Ace who just turned 9. This was his 5th time racing or running gates. He has won a couple other small races but this was the first big one. He went against the best in the State today and placed 26th out of 70. Most these kids have hundreds of gate work and runs under them. Ace never got in a tuck at the bottom half. This upper section was steep we saw some pretty bad crashes today. Really proud of my boy.

Yes GS. It really blows my mind watching him ski the way he does.
Growing up i spent a couple weeks every Winter at Kirkwood. Aunt ran the ticket booths and uncle was head ski instructor/ski patrol. Never ran a race but did do the gates in Nastar ? when my uncle would set them up. Tough as hell especially in icy conditions.

I was a good skier when I was young my dad was a Ski instructor for 18 years at Deer Valley. But never did anything like that. It was a pretty intimidating course. My legs were shaking on his first run.

He'll Yeah! He is killing it for 9 years old.

I am chilling with my Nephew Ace now at the River. He is powering through with his older siblings and cousins.
