On Tuesday, I ordered 2 Optima marines batteries and 1 dual port trickle charger. (Over $900) That is 3 items total. (Should be 3 boxes)
Yesterday my 3 packages arrive. However, since I live in a high rise condominium, the 3 packages were signed for by my concierge. When I go to pick up my 3 boxes from the mail room, I have the trickle charger and 1 battery, and 1 box of (5) cheap moving boxes in a single box. Obviously, we did not order a box of moving boxes. However, the moving box has an Amazon sticker on it that matches the sticker on the other battery, basically stating that it is the other battery. It also says that the package weighs 42lb’s, but it is not even close to 42 pounds. But it is large, since it’s a box of moving boxes.
Obviously, I call Amazon customer service. They basically accuse me of trying to scam Amazon out of a battery. They also say they won’t help me unless I have a Police Report. So my wife and I call the Broward Sheriffs Dept. They arrive at my condo at 10pm last night. They inspect my packages and come to the same conclusion……… somebody at Amazon switched a $330 battery for a $10 box of boxes.
I am not sure what I am going to do. Now that I have a police report, Amazon will now start an investigation, which should take 3 weeks or longer. I cannot go that long. I currently have dead batteries in my boat and I am not taking the boat out until I have replaced the batteries.
Should I buy another Optima battery while I wait? My only fear of doing this is I will end up with an extra battery that I do not need or want to store. I don’t want to loose boating time either.
Have any of you ever had a problem similar to this?
What would you do?
