We have a late 2004 Gulfstream, 29'... Bought it in 2017 with around 30k miles on it. Didn't know about the sparkplug issue till we'd already had it for awhile but never had any problems. I replaced the sparkplugs and coils last summer at around 50k miles. I was leery about the job, but it went fine. 😬😄

Pull my boat, Jeep YJ, and used to haul a Samurai on a 14' flatbed, no worries 👍

Only problems I've had with mine was when the cat's were stolen. Other than that done everything we need it to. Towed our flat bed with UTV and 2 motorcycles or chaparral deck boat. Not the most relaxing driving experience though, that engine makes torque relatively high in the RPM range so when I get to my destination I'm ready for the noise to stop. Especially on more mountainous drives.

I had 2 V10 motorhomes. Both ran great. Towed my boat everywhere
I had the Banks kit on one and it was flawless
I had a Hurricane with the same set-up and it also ran great, cheap oil changes and I ran it hard towing a 100% when used it, I can remember a time when the wasn't something behind it. 🤔

The later v-10's are pretty decent motors. In the trucks, they occasionally have issues with the block mounted oil coolers leaking, but that may be different than what's on a coach chassis. They do like their rpm climbing hills though, the exhaust may drone depending on what it's set with, and the fan clutch drones as well.

The only thing I would talk you out of is a 24' motorhome. Why so short? My parents have probably close to 100k miles on two V10 motorhomes over the past decade and never a single drivetrain issue.

Just the wife and myself. With a 20' enclosed trailer if there is bad weather (wind) the group and go in there and hang out. The wife will be able to drive a smaller one herself to visit the grandkids.
I was looking at Sprinter vans until I found out they only tow 5000#. I figure trailer and SXS will be that much alone.

I have an 03 V10 Excursion, I believe the faulty threaded blocks/heads ceased production in November of 02. You can pull a block number off the front of the motor to see, specifically, when the motor was built. Maybe a VIN could also do the same?

We have 130k on ours. No issues whatsoever other than a random stall caused by a water damaged fuel relay that is soldered onto the interior fuse box. It's not easily replaced. Either you pull the fuse box and have it rebuilt, or you rewire around the relay.

The water damages is from a weak ass windshield seal. Somehow water finds its way down the harness onto the fuse block. I just went thru this fiasco again. I had the windshield replaced a year or two ago and I foolishly washed the truck. Just the single wash took out the fuse box again.

There are videos on how to seal the windshield properly.

So just be sure the year motorhome you are buying does not have the same windshield seal issue. It was a common problem in the vans and Explorers - so much so that it created a niche market for water damaged rebuilt fuse boxes.

The V-10's are pretty bulletproof. The problem is the cylinders are the size of Coors cans and torque is way up high on the rpm band. if you do go that route get the 5star tune more to change the trans behavior than the motor, although the motor tune is nice. (the tunes are combined if I am not clear). I now have the new Godzilla 7.3 gasser and it is a much better engine (once you have the right plug wires) than the V10

I've had 2 now, no issues with either. Only real drawback is they only rate the front engine A class coaches at 5k towing capacity. The towing police may be upset to see you towing more than that, but I have had no issues. Won't be the fastest up the grades, but it will get there. Make sure you have brakes on the trailer and a brake controller in the coach.

I have the 2018 class C V10, 22 footer.
Test drove both the v10 & godzilla versions & found very little noticable difference in acceleration. Barely feel the flat bed with Rzr/4 on it.
Chose the v10 since it's a refined motor vs the godzilla v8 that seemed to be having a few teething problems.
It was an odd feeling to rev it up like a 2stroke at first.

We had that same issue on a 99 Expedition. Shorted out the fuse box and engaged 4Lo full time. We were in Utah on a ski trip that got extended a couple of days, so it worked out OK.

Mine is a 2011 34’ with V10 rated for 5k towing. Good thing the Gladiator only weighs 4999. Have put over 10k on it since buying and no issues other than the price of gas in Cal. 6 mpg towing can get pricey but if you don’t like the mileage don’t buy a motorhome.

The diesels don’t get much better mpg. They. Just don’t struggle too hard. But with a 20’ enclosed or flat trailer and a rzr even the boat is no problem for the gas motors.

Had a 2012 Thor ACE, pulled an enclosed 16' and 20' trailer with the RZR. Towed the Jeep, really a good rig with plenty of power on the hills and never got hot. I have a Genesis toy hauler now, but want to go back to a Motorhome, probably a 2019 or newer Bounder. I did put the 5 Star tune on my ACE V10, it really helped with the throttle response and shift points, almost a night and day positive upgrade. Would for sure do that again if needed.

What’s in there? I want to buy an enclosed and pull the rzr and bikes. I’m kind of scared but maybe I shouldn’t be. I would love a big enclosed like that. Might not be able to afford it but I’d love it the same 😂

We have a 2007 30ft Class C E450 double pop outs with the V10 . We tow a 16ft enclosed trailer with 40 gallon water tank , 5 bikes , tools , 40 gallons of gas , fire wood , etc . We also tow sxs on a 18 ft trailer or the 24ft boat all no problem . 6 miles to the gallon most of the time sometimes 5 if I floor it .

Pay attention to your fresh water tank capacity! Class C rigs doesn’t have large tanks

you might have to add a tank to the enclosed trailer then pump it into the rig

Small fresh & black/gray tanks. Smaller fuel tank. And most class C’s don’t have leveling jacks, just something to think about.

Many years ago we were looking at class C’s. But the tow rating, max weight, water tank size, fuel tank size, lack of leveling jacks & price vs a Class A. For us it was a easy decision to go class A. And at the time many of the C’s we were looking at were as much or more then the A’s I was looking at, and ended up buying. My wife won’t attempt to drive the Class A, but honestly I doubt she would have driven the C, even though she said she would have.

They both have their positives & negatives, just like a motorhome vs trailer. Just go with what you feel comfortable in and fits the budget and you will be fine. And V10’s are in 90% of the motorhomes on the road and are good engines.

We have a 2016 26ft class C with the V-10 on a F450 chassis. We did have to put a new radiator in it, but other than that its been trouble free. My daily is a 24v cummins, so it takes some getting used to the powerband on the v-10  . Drove down from WA state flat towing a Chevy Tracker, 7mpg, it could use a bigger fuel tank.

Sand car and 2 bikes is all I bring now. Kids are grown so I don't have to lug around all their quads. LOL! I keep tools and coolers in there as well.

I'm looking at 2017 and newer..... So I should I be good.
I've got an '08. Problem free... except for starters. Exhaust heats up solenoids on the starter.. After 3 starters I made a shield and no problems since. Pretty much all the 50k milage has been towing boat or toad. No spark plug issue unless you have to change them...lol..

definitely need the 5Star tune!
