Great looking car!!
All I ever see is grey haired mid life crisis dudes driving these(Caddies were once the choice).
Just yesterday saw one nearly loose control leaving the Riviara intersection as he approach the roundabout on McCullough.........all I could do was shake my head and think "the 25yr old tweaker on the corner was not impressed" by blue haired Bobby in his shiny blue vette.
Silly.

We sold our immaculate, low mileage '09 Atomic Orange Z06 in anticipation of this. Money is in the bank waiting to be spent on the C8 Z06 or Equiv higher performance version.

I love it. Had a C6 Z06 that was bad ass with LS6 but this new mid engine has got me thinking.

I remember coming down the I 405 Northbound Sepulveda pass down grade and being passed by a new 427 Big Block 'Vette. The guy lost control, spun like a frisbee and hit the guardrail then spun some more and ended up on the side of the embankment. Total loss. His battery flew out and continued spinning down the hill in the number 1 lane.

Witnessed the same when a nice Pantera lost it on the transition road from the then unfinished, partially built yet section open Marina Del Rey Fwy (Nixon) to the Northbound 405. Totaled. The damage marks are still embedded in the concrete "New Jersey Type" barrier.

How long ago did you sell it?

Honestly for the C7 platform, the GS is about the best one. The ZR1 will beat it on large tracks though.

Z06 will go into limp mode :)

Lol, it crossed my mind but I haven't a clue to the color of BV's car.
I'd hope he has more restraint than that.:p

The deep clear coat metallic purple, almost black color is worth considering.

I the C8 is going to be epic. That said, I’m really considering a C7 Z06 right now for a daily driver. Thinking the mid-engine layout is going to lose some practical functionality that the front-engine car has.

The mid engine C-8 is sic! The C8 is the most completely redesigned Corvette in history, even more more so than C-5 which jumped light years beyond it's predecessor. Hopefully the C8 does the same. These are not concept car photos, they are actual photos of the production car to be released to public.

Am I the only one that thinks the mod engine is stupid and ruins the vette name
No, youre not. Im honestly very disappointed. I'm sure it'll perform incredibly. But seeing the old "front" engine (though the engine was behind the front axle ine) out perform so many crazy exotics with its antiquated push-rod V8 at about 1/2 the price was always awesome to see.

It’s for weight & balance of the car for track use. It’s the only way they can compete with the euro super cars.

I think this is the best idea since they got rid of the stupid pop up head lights.

That’s what made the Corvette. World class performance the average guy can afford. I don’t see that changing. Automotive performance has taken a quantum leap forward with the P-1 cars. Just look at Le Mans. The P1 cars went by the GT cars like they were standing still. P-1 cars are a million bucks. A Corvette w 918 or La Ferrari level performance for 200 - 250k would be a winner.

GM engineers have stated they’ve maxed out the performance ability of the front engine design. In order to stay competitive, they have to adapt.

I am stoked to see the C8 as that platform lends itself to AWD or hybrid technology.

Mid-engine cars aren’t as functional for daily use as front engine cars-IMO. You can throw a set of golf clubs in a current Corvette and head to the course. Doubt you can do that w a C8.

Zora-Arkus Duntov has wanted a mid-engine Vette since the late 50’s.

If you’re at all hip about the heritage of the car, then you’ve gotta be stoked that he’s finally getting his wish.

The Corvette is known as the "American Legend". It has been the pound for pound, all around American champion for mass production performance 50+ years in it's 65 year history. To remain the "American Legend" you have to evolve or you become "American has been". The mid engine greatly increases the Vette's performance, helping America close the gap and compete with Euro badasses for 1/2 the price. Proud to see GMC stepping up and doing something outside the box like Tesla. The C8 will be "Legendary". :D;):cool::cool:

I think it looks great and after teasing about a mid-engine for more years than I can recall, I'm glad they made the leap.
For those who aren't diggin it, no worries there's a used market with a lot of low mileage front engine models in every flavor to keep you happy.
I think it looks great, although I think the front hood is boring.

I can’t throw that kind of money at it, but I have a 2018 3xblack vert stingray built on line for right around $65K.
If and when I can pull the trigger remains to be seen.
Our old C5 vert was plenty enough car for my old ass, I don’t need the “race” car version.
My talent ends far short of that.

Looks similar to a Ferrari 430 to me. I think it has good proportions and looks mean.

Mid engine cars are badass...just don't lift on the throttle once committed!

Are you kidding me, that thing is sick
I bought a c7 when they first came out
But sold it and bought a dodge hellcat and like it much better
Might have to get the c8 as second car depending on the price

Ross, if only I could count how many customers told me up front, "my neighbor just got a 535i so I want a M5" or something similar to that. YuppieVille was alive and thriving.
Classic cars have personality, new cars are so globally equal nowadays they lack it.
