So I went to buy a Glock 23 today (40 cal.) sold the fuck out. Talked to three separate gun shops. Glock is hopelessly backordered and they don't know when the orders will be filled.

One shop told me that Glock informed them they are 200,000 units backordered and the wholesalers are laughing at the dealers when they ask for inventory.

They won't even take a deposit or put me on a waitlist.

Now I know I can get a Sig 226 but I kinda like the glock.

Funny part is I found one in stock at a local store but then proceed to ask a bunch of questions. So the shopkeeper, in his best russian accent, told me to go the shooting range and give it a try. Being so busy it took me a couple days until I can get to the range and it turns it the thing is perfect for my hand.

So I go back and Voila, its gone. This is when I found out they were backordered.

I guess I will start calling around.

Now there is one of those big guns shows coming in two weeks. What are the chances of finding one there?

I shot the glock but not the sig. I liked the size of the glock 23. compact without being too small.

I guess I will call around and see if anyone rents the sig so I can try it.

Not looking for the absolute best gun just one that works well in my hand.

Plus the Glock is $350 cheaper  I know its a good unit!!

I haven't seen the XD-40 anywhere

The reason I like the Glock 20 is the way it fits me...The SIG is a nice piece, but go with what you like.

I have a glock 23.... good gun. I'm keeping my eyes open for a glock 17/19 right now... hard to come by, even in the used market.

I have a Glock 23 for sale right now, let me know if you're interested in used. It has maybe a hundred rounds through it although it is about five years old, well kept. I have a 27 as well and really can't justify having both.

PM if interested.

Wait for the Glock if it fits well. I tried the Springfields and the Glocks and went Glock. Last time I went to the range the guy next to me had to borrow a screwdriver to clear his XD. The Glocks just keep on chugging, even with cheap ammo. Glock is simple and reliable and affordable. :thumbsup

I ordered a glock 30 from scottsdale gun club 2 weeks ago. they said they were backordered also...it took them 2 weeks and I picked it up today...I believe it is one of the best 45's out there.

Randy, what holster is that? I have Blackhawk CQB's but that one looks more slim...

Why screw around with those plastic DA semi's. Build a nice 1911 and be done.

Another vote for the Sig Sauer. If you are looking for fit, and "concealability" look at the P229 as well as the 226.
I have both, love both.:D
It is a very personal thing, but Sig and HK are the only two semi-auto pistols out there I've trusted my life to.

Why screw around trying to fix a 98 year old design when other work out of the box?

All the best:D
